Victor Paul Wierwille was a Bible scholar and teacher for over four decades.

By means of Dr. Wierwille's dynamic teaching of the accuracy and integrity of God's Word, foundational class and advanced class graduates of Power for Abundant Living have learned that the one great requirement for every student of the Bible is to rightly divide the Word of Truth. Thus, his presentation of the Word of God was designed for students who desire the in-depth-accuracy of God’s Word.

In his many years of research, Dr. Wierwille studied with such men as Karl Barth, E. Stanley Jones, Glenn Clark, Bishop K.C. Pillai, and George M. Lamsa. His formal training included Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Theology degrees from Mission House (Lakeland) College and Seminary. He studied at the University of Chicago and at Princeton Theological Seminary from which he received a Master of Theology degree in Practical Theology. Later he completed his work for the Doctor of Theology degree.

Dr. Wierwille taught the first class on Power for Abundant Living in 1953.

Books by Dr. Wierwille include: Are the Dead Alive Now? published in 1971; Receiving the Holy Spirit Today published in 1972; five volumes of Studies in Abundant Living— The Bible Tells Me So (1971), The New, Dynamic Church (1971), The Word's Way (1971), God's Magnified Word (1977), Order My Steps in Thy Word (1985); Jesus Christ Is Not God (1975); Jesus Christ Our Passover (1980); and Jesus Christ Our Promised Seed (1982).

Dr. Wierwille researched God's Word, taught, wrote, and traveled worldwide, holding forth the accuracy of God's "wonderful, matchless" Word.

SUMMARY KEYWORDS: God, father, advocate, Jesus, truth, Pentecost, world, comforter, revelation, John, spirit, born, lord Jesus Christ

I'd like for you just to take your Bibles tonight and turn to John 14 Please. So many times people, when they read sections in the Word of God, take one second and they set it over in jeopardy of another. This cannot be true if God's word is God's will for laughter mean what it says in left to say what it means. And the whole Bible will have to fit like a hand in a glove. One of the great key not truly to the understanding of the gospel record, is the foundational truth in the cloth that we that before our people is so clearly that there cannot be any question left after we've taught it. And that is that all scripture before the day of Pentecost is fo are for our learning. And the Gospels are not addressed to us. They are for our learning. Perhaps even a greater misunderstanding of the Gospels is that they have never rightly divided the word as to who Jesus Christ really was at he is and what he accomplished. That perhaps is even a greater error of why they have not been able to understand how Jesus Christ been God, he would have known everything, there would have been no need for God to have ever learned anything because he already knew it. But the Bible declares that he grew in stature, in knowledge and in favor with God and man, Jesus Christ, people only knew that which he studied out of the word, the scrolls that were available Old Testament, or what God directly revealed to him by word of knowledge, word of wisdom, or discerning of spirits. Remembering Romans 15, four, I don't have to look at it because I got cheated, John. But in Romans 15, four is that tremendous versus scripture that says whatsoever things were written, afford time were written, f o r, for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures, might have hope. Hope is always in relationship to the Lord Jesus Christ and His return for us. In the Gospel of John, and in that 14 chapters, we have some of the great truths that related to the future and not to the immediate present of the time when the Lord Jesus Christ gates. As I said, the Lord Jesus Christ knew what he could study out of the word. And what God gave him by direct revelation beyond that. Jesus Christ did not know the mystery, the church of the body, he did not know that the Gentiles would be fellow heirs and have that same body. If you understand all of these matters like this, then you can go to a chapter like the 14th of John, and it becomes singularity significant and dynamically accurate. Without that knowledge, you can't do anything but hash the Word of God to be. This particular chapter 14 begins with a marriage ceremony. It is a custom deals with the Oriental custom of a marriage ceremony, where after the period of one year, because the first year of their married life is a honeymoon, they just take off they spend half of the time with his family, the other half of the time with her family, and they learn to live together. They learn to fellowship together they learn to communicate. That day, you can be married to a little chick for 20 years and you haven't hatched anything. Really, because she goes to work in the morning. You'll go to work in the afternoon and you're just cross in the middle between over a cup of coffee many times. But this is not true, biblically speaking. In the Bible, when a man and woman got married they Just went on a honeymoon or one year, just to learn to live with each other, to learn to understand each other, to learn to communicate, and to fellowship, one with another.

05:13

At the end of that year, the husband would bring his wife, before the entire body of the elders of the city, and which included the rabbi or the priest. And then all of the 10 attendance, the 10, ladies attendance, would be there plus the best man. And he would set his wife in front of him, he would stand her in front of him. And then he would say to his wife, Let not your heart be troubled honey, you believe in God. You believe in God. Believe also in me, your husband, In my Father's house are many apartments, mansions, King James apartments accurately. Because at the end of the year, that son had to return to his father's house and live with the Father. They just built an extra apartment onto the house, a place for them to stay. And he is saying to her at the end of the year of a honeymoon, when they're at her home, In my Father's house are many apartments. If it were not, so I would have told you, I am going to go there and to do what the parents an apartment for us, for you. And if I go, if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto Myself that where I am gay may be also what a beautiful, beautiful clothes of a wedding of a year. And the wedding really technically never closes until the honeymoons over with because this is the closing ceremony of the honeymoon. And whether I go verse four, you know, and the way you know, these four verses are dipped right out of the wedding ceremony. And Jesus Christ uses them talking to Israel, about his going away about his going to the Father about his preparation of an apartment for his APL. And he said, if I go, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself that where I am, ye may be one. In Acts chapter one. In verse 10, at the time of the ascension, wild day, the apostles looked steadfastly toward heaven as he Jesus went up, he's going to prepare the apartment behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, which also said, You men of Galilee, whites Danti, gazing up into heaven, this same Jason, the same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall soak come in like manner, as he have seen him go on to heaven. That same Jesus is coming back. This is what John 14 is talking about. If I go, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself that where I am, G may be also and whether I go, you know, and the way you do now that's real wonderful. We know that he ascended and we know that the way except a man's BORN AGAIN of God's Spirit, HE CAN'T SEE the kingdom. We have to confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus believed God did what raised Him from the dead. If were to be saved, that is the way and he is that only way to go. Thomas verse five, for old Thomas always got to be around Thomas that onto him. Lord, we know not whether they'll go is and how can we know the light? I mean, John 14 Five. Jesus said unto him, I am going I am going Now they use these words I am out of this text and relate them back to the Old Testament, where God said to Israel one day are his people, he says, You just tell him that I am.

10:16

How we can hash the Word of God the pieces like that I don't understand. But I guess it's can be done. What's your name? I am who? Who are you? Do you use the words I am, that make you God? Just because Jesus said, I am the way, they just take the two words I am, throw them back into the Old Testament and the Old Testament back into the gospel period. And they say, see, that makes him God. Know, the Word says, that he is the way I am the way. He is not a way, among many different other ways. He is the one and only way. This I Believe, with all my heart, with all my mind with all my strings. I do not believe that Buddha is the wave, or Mohammed, or any of those other great man of ancient times. I believe that there's only one way and that way is the Lord Jesus Christ. And the proof that I have of this is the resurrection. And the proof of the resurrection in my life is my God given ability, whereby I can speak in tongues at will.

11:50

I wrote a letter this week, in defense of speaking in tongues, to an attorney and a judge in the state of New York, who were considering taking away a baby a child from one of our grads because they speak in tongues. Saying that speaking in tongues is only done by people who are mentally deranged, and who are possessed and controlled. My how far devil these things can go, is not terrible. When you and I know what the word of God declares, like in First Corinthians 14, which I wrote to them, they also were the word that God says, I would like to speak in tongues. This is a commandment of God. But remember, it's not something to be discouraged about. It's just something to be awake regarding. Because the Bible says that in the latter day, they'd rather believe a lie than truth. And they'd rather believe that the truth of God is a lie, then do believe it's truth. Jesus said, I am the lay that settles it for me. If people come along, and they say, well, don't you think Buddha is a good way? It Yeah, he's a good way. But he is not the way. It is always man pitting himself against God and trying to make things which are not real real. Jesus Christ is the only way there is no other way. He is the way except a man gets born again of God's Spirit. They there is no eternal life abiding with him. Now, if they want to argue about Africa and Australia, and every other place, let them argue. I don't think you have to go that far. Africa or Australia or any place, all I need to think you do is look at your next door neighbor usually, is he born again? But they'll say well, what about those poor people across the distant lands who have never heard? Well, I want to tell you, the poor people living right next to you, I've never heard. You can go to a church here in the United States a lifetime and never hear the Word of God. My old outfits going to unite with all the ungodly now we're going to have 25 million right? And it's my old outfit. I didn't write the editorial. I had it my heart and then I did what I usually do put her back in file 13 Because like Mrs. Wierwille once said, If I start writing all this stuff, then I got a fight all the time and I don't like to fight. I like to teach the Word and greatest time, but my old denomination this last week it is in all the newspapers now advocating premarital sex, post marital sex, all the stuff. They're just advocating? Well, we got enough of it without advocating. And the church taking such a position has to certainly be outside of the pale of the truth of God's Word. Jesus said, I am the way and that settles it for us in the lay ministry. If nobody believes it, we do. We declare it, we stand for it. And I don't have to go around and try to defend our God. If the people in Africa haven't heard no more so that I have to defend my god if the neighbor next door hasn't heard. All I have to do is witness to the greatness of God's Word. God says. Not only is he the way but being the way he has to be the truth. And he has to be the life. You can't be the way without being the truth without being the light. And no man cometh under the Father but by me. whether people like it or whether they don't like it doesn't cut a bit of ice with my thinking, nor in God's Word. We either come God's way, or we don't. We either accept the Lord Jesus Christ, we believe His Word or we ticket it's either. And if you want a life that adds up and life of abundance, a life of blessing A life that brings answers to your soul, you've got to come away of the word. Because outside of the accurate knowledge of God's word, there just is no light.

17:00

In verse seven, Jesus said, if he had known me, he should have known my Father also. And from henceforth he know him, and have lot saved him. Now, that's impossible, in one sense, because in the Word of God, it says, No man at any time had seen, oh, God, here it says, and have seen him. This has to be understood in the light, that Jesus Christ did the work of God here upon earth, he always did the will of God, and to the end, that you saw what he did. Because man did not have spirit he only had body and soul, he was only a senses. Man could only go by what he could see, hear, smell, taste or touch. So that and as they had seen Jesus do this. They had seen the Father because that he Jesus Christ was always doing the will of the Father. That's the significance of that great verse that have said unto him, verse eight, Lord, show unto us the Father and it suffices us. Jesus said unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet has found not know me Philip? Either has seen me has seen the Father, and how sayest style show us the Father, same essence in what I have just taught. Believers not down not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me the words that I speak unto you, I speak not of myself, but the Father that dwelleth in me, he do it the words, God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself. Believe me, that I am in the Father and the Father in me, or else, just believe me for the very word sake. And if you believe me, for the very word sake, y'all have to admit that there is a God who sent me. Barely, barely I send to you. He that believeth on me, the work that I do, shall he do also. And then here comes the first great revelation or addition and greater than these than these Watts and these words that I've done, shall you do? Because I go on to my father. The greatness of that revelation is almost unbelievable. Because how in the world could he say to his apostles that day, the words that I do, ye shall do also and greater works than I do, ye shall do. You've got to remember that these apostles to whom he speaking, moved from one administration over to another, were these apostles saved under this particular period of time, 14 chops, or they were saved, or they were saved. But were they born again, after, after the change of the administration on the day of Pentecost, no one could be saved after that, except he was born again. That's why you've got to go from one over into another period of time from this administration, hearing John of Christ presence, personal presence upon earth, to the day of Pentecost, and thereafter. And on the Day of Pentecost, these apostle apostles were the first ones who were born again, was Abraham say, Sure, about it, about Jacob, about all the Old Testament believers were they say, right, but were they born again. But for those who live at the time of the fulfillment, of the death or resurrection, the glorification of Christ and the opening of the day of Pentecost, you have that type of overlapping over understand that from the day of Pentecost on, they had to be born again, in order to be saved, but before that they were saved, as they believe belong, and as righteousness was reckoned unto them. That greater works of John 1412. He says that they were going to do because our after I go to my father, and what he gave, and what came as after he went, is the greater works of God. And that is that they could lead somebody into the new birth. They could bring men and women to God and get them BORN AGAIN of God Spirit, filled with the Holy Spirit, operating nine manifestations of the Spirit, something Jesus himself could not do. Because it was not available. Jesus came to fulfill the law and to make available the new bird by his work, by what he accomplished for us, but all the time he was here upon Earth, it was not available. He was simply doing what's making it available. It's like having a chicken dinner. When you get it out of the freezer, you're starting the dinner. But you got a tough time to end on it. So you're in the process of making it. And you get it out, let's say early Sunday morning or late Saturday night. And you're laying out the I know what goes on at our house occasionally too. And, and then along toward 12 o'clock on Sunday, we eat it. We are making it available, but it's not available till it's available. Jesus Christ was making available the new birth. But it wasn't available until the day of Pentecost. Nobody could be born again until that time. This is the greater works of John 1412 that has just thrown everybody for a loop. Because it certainly cannot be a greater works in healing or these other manifestations that can only be that we can do something that Jesus Christ himself could not do because it was not available. Isn't that one that you and I can lead somebody into the new birth?

24:59

That they're really Born again a God's Spirit, no it that they can grow up in the knowledge of the greatness of that word and just be so cognizant of it, that they know that they know that they know that they know what a tremendous truth. And he says in verse 13. And whatsoever ye shall is, when you're born again of God's Spirit, because I go into my father, you're born again, you're filled with that spirit. Whatsoever you shall ask the word ask is the word demand used in the same sense that you use the word demand in banking fields today, you go up to the cashiers window and you demand payment on the check. The reason you can demand the payment on the check is because there is a deposit there for you. And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that well I do for one reason that the father maybe was glorified in the work of the sun, in the sun, in what the work in the wash the working of that son did for us. If he shall demand anything, and the word anything is limited, by what the Word gives you the privilege to us for anything in the word, anything which belongs to us according to the Word. If you shall ask anything, in my name, I will do it. If he loved me, keep my commandments. In the word here, when it talks about the commandments, is not the Tim is talking about what he is going to do what is going to happen. And the command is to believe this. Deep that we know from the record in Romans that we must confess with our mouth, believe God raised Him from the dead, that's the commandment doesn't say confess your sin. You never get into that. You confess the Savior from sin, the Lord Jesus Christ. But if God raised Him from the dead, and he said, I will pray as a father and he shall give you He shall give you and other confidence that he may abide with you for ever. There is a second great truth of future revelation in this word. The word comforter is the word parrot fleet, or pod slave post. The word parrot please. Lift literally means an advocate. And advocate is one in the capacity of the representative of another. That's what an advocate he represents or is the representative of another. That is this word comforter. This one represents us is going to be in us. And it's again the pronoun he it could be the pronoun it wouldn't make any difference. And I suppose it could be the pronoun cheat. Third person singular he, she or it is the usage. But it's like in first John. They love it. Now are we the watt, sons of God, and that includes the women. Because that which is born within us, is neither male nor female, but it just refers to our relationship in a perpendicular way that we are his sons, both men and women. Yet on an horizontal level, your daughters of God, I'm a son of God, this slate, but we are all sons of God in a perpendicular relationship because that is neither male nor female.

29:51

This is why the word he is in here. He shall give you another ad Okay, so we've got two advocates to comforters. biblically speaking, the one advocate for us is the Lord Jesus Christ, who is now seated at the right hand of the Father will make intercession for the saints according to the will of God. The other advocate, the one who is alongside of us, is this gift of His Spirit within us, which is Christ in you, nah, hope of Go. This word is only used a number of times in the Bible. And I think tonight, I'll trace it with you, in the sense now always an advocate, as the representative of another in verse 2614, of John tos, but the comforter, which is the Panama our guild, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your forgetfulness. Do your lot, remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you, This is that word, Comforter, the advocate, which is the new ma huggy own, as it says here, which is His Holy Spirit, which is his gift, which was given on the day of one pedicles. In chapter 16, you keep your finger in 14, we'll be back in chapter 16. And in verse seven, nevertheless, I tell you the truth, it is expedient for you that I go away, where if I go not away, the advocate will not come unto you. But if I go away, if I depart, I will send him if he alright that for NUMA audio on to you. I thought it was used, oh, it's in verse 26, of the chapter above. I'm sorry, I missed that. That's the second one I should have given you or so. Verse 26, I didn't give you that, did I? But when the comforter is that parently there Walter is come, boom, I will send unto you from the Father, even the spirit of truth. The Spirit of Truth, though the Holy Spirit, a new Maha do is the spirit of truth because it's God in Christ in you. And Jesus said, I am the way the lot, the truth, and the life. Its final usage in the Bible is in the Epistle of First John. Here's another word that I sometimes think people think is used 1000 times in the Bible, the word you know, Parklea, advocate, comforter. into John chapter two, First John, chapter two, My little children, verse one, these things right I unto you, that you see not but if any man sin, we have a apparently a comforter. Here it is translated advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the who, in the gospels, it said it was the Holy Spirit, which was the new Maha Yom which is apparently the Comforter, the advocate here in John it tells us that the advocate is Jesus Christ. So I told you, we've got to one seated in heaven, the other inside of us, and that makes it a good deal. Dr. 14, Chapter. By 17. Even the spirit of truth on the world cannot Lombardo received. Because if the world see us and not, neither knoweth him but ye talking to the apostles that day, know him, not Spirit of Truth. for he dwelleth with you at that time, and shall be future tense in you at the time the Spirit of God was upon them in the Old Testament, but from the day of Pentecost, it's born within. And these people live through both administrations. They lived at the time of the closing of the life of the Lord Jesus, and at the opening of the giving of the gift of pneuma hagion. This is why it says he dwelleth with you now, that future tense shall be what?

35:53

That's the third right truth of Revelation, in that church. I will not leave you comfortless. Without an ad bouquet, I will come to you by way of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost.

36:15

Yet a little while, and the world see if me no more, but GC me because I live, ye shall levels. I do not believe he's talking about the return here I think he's talking about is getting up. After the three days and the three nights. For a little while, three days and three nights they wouldn't see. Then God would raise him and he'd come up. Then they would see at that day, verse 20, ye shall knew at that day when you see me he shall know that I in my Father, and ye and me and I in you, because of the word of God that dwells within him. Either have my commandments, and keep them here it is that loveth me. And he that loveth Me shall be loved to my father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him at beautiful. Judas stepped onto him not as scary as Lord, how is it that thou will manifest itself unto us and not under the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man loved me, he will keep my words and my Father will love him. And we will come on to him, and make Our abode with him by way of the Holy Spirit's up a new Maha do the new birth, on the day of Deacon. He that loveth me not keep it not my savings. And the word which you hear is not mine, but the word which the Father, but the Father's, which sent me these things have I spoken on to you being yet present with you, but they advocate, the Paluma hug, yo, Deepa, numa, de hog young, whom the Father will send in my name. He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I've said unto you.

38:46

Now that cannot mean that the Holy Spirit teaches me one thing, and teaches her something else and that's something else he teaches her would be contrary to what he taught me, or that what he taught me is contrary to a lot he would teach him. All of this baloney business where people usually say, Well, God told me so and so are the Holy Spirit's said to me, so it's always just a bunch of public. Because usually what they say contradicts what the word really says. He will reveal Himself and lead us into all truth as the Word says. And the ALL TRUTH terminates, with a revelation given in the book of Ephesians. That teach us all things and to lead us into all truth culminated with the giving of the revelation of the mystery, and what its fullness really is. There is is no revelation beyond all the revelation that's ever given has to fit within the framework of that all revelation. And that can only be regarding a specific incident of operation within the confines of that greater body. In other words, there is no truth that is available to man today, which is not already recorded in the Epistles which are addressed to the Church of the body, which is His revelation. That's what I believe the Word teaches. And he'll bring all things to your remembrance as your work and study that word. It'll come back whatsoever things I've said to you. Then he says in verse 27, Peace I leave with you.

40:58

My peace I give unto you, not as the world Give it, give it unto you.

41:07

Let not your heart be troubled. Neither let it be what is not the very same thing you just said in the opening part?

41:23

Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God believe also in Me. Talking about peace? He said, Let not your heart be troubled. Neither let it be afraid. Why? Because there is no peace. You don't see any peace around you. All you see is fight, right? Look in the community and society of the newspapers every other place. Why do we see these? No, it's got to be an inside job. Within the individual born again, believer. And what he's saying that he doesn't give this kind of peace that the world talks about. It's an inner thing. And when you see the whole world blowy, flipping kickin it, don't let it disturb you. Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God. Believe also in me, therefore, don't be afraid, is not a tremendous comfort to our time. As it was in that you have heard how I said unto you, I go away and come again unto you. If he loved me, you'd rejoice. Because I said, I go under the father, or my father. Here it is, is greater than what? He couldn't have said that if he'd have been God. They sure got problems on their hands, everything. They got more problems in a barrel, a monkey so that you can shake a stick. And now, verse 29, I have told you before it come to pose, that when these things do come to pass, he may be able to do one thing, what believe. And then that great 30 Verse, always used in the foundation applies. Hereafter, I will not talk much with you for the prince of this world, Thomas and has nothing What have you noticed tonight how during the foundational class time and time again, so many things are taught that are really come right out of this 14th Chapter. But of course, this verse always we read it in context, specifically, because in Genesis chapter one and two, Adam was the prince of this world. Adam was top echelon boy, he sat at the top of the ladder, he ran the whole show. But there was a change. And here he is talking about the principle of this world. He is talking about safety, the day of and is a foundational class we teach our people how Adam had this dominion, authority and power he had this rulership and how the devil gods are Gods our enemy got the Dominion, authority and power. That's why Satan becomes the prince of this world. And Jesus said he hasn't got a lousy thing in me. Now why Did he say, I will not talk much with you for the prince of this world coming? Why did he really say, this is what I've never taught to you? I guess. Because it was a time almost of his crucifixion. And it relates itself to Satan killing him. Remember how stupid he was that he did it, but he did. Say? He said, I won't talk much with you. It's only about 30 hours left. From the time this begins here, if I remember correctly until Christ is crucified. I think I'm right. So there's a very short period of time, I'm not gonna have much time to talk to you, Jesus said, because the prince of this world coming, coming to do what? To kill him. Dang, that's why to reopen nothing in me. But verse 31, that the world may do that I love the Father. And as the Father gave me command, even Oh, I do. That father gave him commandment, how did he get it by the revelation in the word number one, and by direct revelation, a word of knowledge, word of wisdom, discerning of spirits in specific incidents where he needed it. So he got it. And then he said, Arise, let us go ahead. And you know what, they arose and they go hand, they're headed toward the Garden of Gethsemane. They spend the night there are part of the night there and they come and capture him and then later on, they crucified Him. Those words arise, let us go him, really must have been tremendous hidden, the in depth, feeling there and knowing that he was headed for the cross, knowing that it would cost him his life, knowing that he would really have to stand because he could have flipped the last minute if you want to do add freedom. We'll that's why sooner or later, we're going to talk about that prayer, If it be die will let this cup pass from me. He's the only one who would have ever dared to pray that. And he's the only one who ever prayed it. If it does, I will. And yet to hear so many Christians praying, oh, Lord, if it's your will.
