SUMMARY KEYWORDS: Judas, hanged, Judas Iscariot, chief priests, apostles, property, day, Matthew, called, ascension, purchased, field, betrayed, Galilee, silver, Jesus

We take your Bibles tonight and turn to Matthew 27. Tonight, I'm going into the Word of God on this particular Sunday night, to show to you again the inherent accuracy, as well as the inherent accuracy of the greatness of God's Word. Regarding the day when Judas hanged himself everything that basically that I'm going to be teaching tonight, of course, has been written in detail in Volume One of studies in Abundant Living. Most of you people in the auditorium I'm sure have read it. But it will bear reiteration and teaching. As I see in the way, ministry time and time again, you can never teach your people to well, you can keep reiterating, you can go over it. And every time you go over it, somehow or other, somebody learned something. I believe this is true of all of our lives. That as we keep reiterating, as we keep working as we keep studying, we begin to understand it better and better. It is not what our Judas hanged himself, the day he betrayed the Lord Jesus Christ, or whether he did it 40 or 50 days later, that I'm concerned about. I'm concerned as always, about the integrity and accuracy of God's Word. To put this whole record of God's Word in its proper setting, I want to read with you the first 10 verses or so of the 27th Chapter of Matthew. Matthew, chapter 27, verse one, when the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took console against Jesus to put him to death. And when they had bound him, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the governor. Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself and brought again the 30 pieces of silver, to the chief priests and elders, saying, I have sinned in that I've betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, why is that to us see thou do that. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple department went and did was hanged himself. And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It's not lawful, or to put them into the treasury, because it's the price of blood. And they took console and brought with bought with them, the potter's field to bury strangers in wherefore that field was called the Field of Blood until this day, then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet saying, and they took the 30 pieces of silver and the price of him, the price of him that was valued, whom they have the children of Israel did value and gave them for the potter's field as the Lord appointed me. Now, this record in the Gospel of Matthew, under one is a book of Acts, have some basic contradictory truths. So turn to the book of Acts. And then I want to read the record with you. And from chapter one of the book of Acts. Very safety. Acts chapter one, verse 18. Now this man purchased there was a field in the Gospel of Matthew, it said, who purchased the field that Jay prays so I immediately have a contradiction on your hand. If the pre chief priests bought it, the chief priests bought it. If the man bought it, the man bought it right. Now all all the while as a matter of fact, your references if you have a senator reference will relate Matthew 27 to x one, right. I haven't looked into Senator reference, but they have to, because they all have to be wrong. So you can just check the same way with what he's called these books that where they compare one scripture with another harmony of the Gospels, or the harmony of the Gospels say that Matthew 27, the record I just read you and this one in acts are identical. Now, ladies and gentlemen, if the chief priests bought a field, in one gospel and demand, Judas bought a field and other gospel or another place in the Bible, here it happens to be in the book X, they cannot be one identical, if they were identical, they'd have to be off identical the same. But they say it is and in these two verses, we shall read now this mind purchase a field with a reward of iniquity and falling headlong he burst asunder in the midst and all these bowels gushed out. And it was known on to all the daughters that Jerusalem in so much as that field is called in their proper tongue Akadama that is to say, the field of Blood.

05:02

Now this is the record of the hanging of Judas. And all of these wonderful truths. Now, I believe that one of the greatest errors we have made in our thinking and understanding is that the record in Matthew says that after he had cast those 30 pieces of silver, it says in Judas went and did was hanged himself, we have inferred from reading that, that he went out and immediately hanged himself. But that is not what the record in Matthew says, Let me take you tonight to first currency, keep your finger in x, because we're coming back. Let me just set a few more scriptures before you before I hand off X. And Matthew, line by line and word by word, in x in First Corinthians chapter 15. In verse three, the latter part of the verse, how that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, verse four of acts of First Corinthians 15, and that He was buried and then he rose again what? The third day according to the Scriptures, and that he was seen of Sisyphus, Peter, then of the last, one of those 12 was Judas Iscariot. And if he's going to be seen of Judas Iscariot, after the resurrection, Judas Iscariot cannot have gone out and hanged himself right after he betrays the Lord Jesus Christ, right? Because the word hearing in Corinthians says that after Jesus Christ resurrection is appearing to see fast he also appeared on dough, that 12 In verse four, it in, in, in bloke in Luke, Luke, keep your finger in X, yes. Matthew, Mark Luke, the 24th chapter, the record of the appearance of Jesus on the day of the resurrection as two men are on the road to Emmaus, and in verse 33, it says, of Luke 24. And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the what 11 gathered together, and them that were with them, the 11 apostles 11. Now let's find out who those 11 work. In the Gospel of John the 20th chapter, just a chapter before acts if you got your finger in there, Acts chapter 20. Just a page before, chapter 20 Verse 24, talking about this time that we just read about a Luke 24. Thomas, one of the lot 12 called did Amos was not with them, when Jesus came. So the 11 apostles that were present on the day of Luke 2433, must have included home, Judas Iscariot, the only one who was not present of the 12 was Thomas. Called call did him. Now in verse 25, it says in John 20, here, the other disciples therefore said unto him, we have seen what the Lord, but he said unto them, Thomas said unto them, except I shall see in his funds, the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand do unto his side, I will not want believe, verse 26, and after eight days, again, the disciples were within and Thomas was wrong with them. Now again, you have how many 12 So after a days after the resurrection appearance of the Lord Jesus Christ, Judas might still have been worth living. Okay, now back to the wonderful record in x is so simple and so easy. All we need to do is to read it carefully. The farmer treaties x one one, referring the word treaties, referring to the Gospel of Luke, that same writer of the book of Acts, is also the writer of the book of Luke, the farmer Luke, the gospel of Luke, as we have it They have I made Oh Theopolis the word Theopolis means, beloved of God, of all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day in which he was taken up. What day would that be? The ascension, the day was taken up 40 days after the resurrection. day he was taken up. After that he through NUMA ideal Holy Spirit. The word through is a Greek word, Dr. DIA, which means by all proceeding from here, it must be the giver who gave it to Jesus Christ by revelation. You know, in the Gospel of John in the third chapter, and think I'll just give you this verse, listen to this. In verse 34, talking about the Lord Jesus Christ, it says, For he whom God has sent Jesus Christ, speak at the words of God, for God give us not the Spirit, by measure on day him. He didn't give the spirit by major every other person in the Old Testament period, the spirit was always by measure. It was always, not without major, without measure means it was completely complete, as completed as it was.

11:35

Jesus Christ had all that was available until the time of the day of Pentecost. And all the manifestations that you can find in the Word of God, where God put His Spirit upon people for a given time, without measure would include prophecy, operation of word of knowledge, when it was done discerning of spirits, faith, miracles, and healing. These were all upon Jesus Christ without measure, which means they were there in the fullness of what God had available to him. And so here in Acts two where it says, After that he through or by way of the spirits have given our commandments, Jesus Christ got the information by word of knowledge, word of wisdom, he had given commandment unto the apostles whom he had one chosen, how many apostles did Jesus to 12 Look at the Gospel of Luke. Luke chapter six. Luke chapter six, verse 13, and when it was day he Jesus called unto him his disciples and of them, he chose what 12 of them he chose what trial right? Now every apostle is a disciple but not every disciple is a lot, an apostle. A disciple is a follower. And Apostle is one who is specifically sent. Now therefore an apostle would be a disciple, understand, a follower, but every disciple would not necessarily be a lot, and apostle, and here it Look, it says, The 12 apostles whom he had was chosen in Acts chapter one, verse two, it's the day of the ascension 40 days after the resurrection, where it said, through the Holy Ghost has given commandments unto the apostles whom he had one. How many did he choose class? 12, what day is that enact the day of the ascension? How many were president of the apostles 12 one of those 12 was Judas Iscariot, then on the day of the ascension, according to the book of Acts, Judas Iscariot must still have been alive.

14:20

That's what it says. That's why me to Rome, verse three to whom? The 12 apostles, you see, if you really want to study this out, you could just underscore each one of these pronouns and so forth as I hit them. Then you'll see how they fit all the way through. But if you lock them with your eyeballs open, you still see you commanded them that they should not that they they hope to all apostles should not depart from Jerusalem but wait for the promise of the Father which says he ye what you 12 apostles have often heard about for John to be baptized with water, but he shall be baptized with oligos. Not many days what? One of the remarkable things about the Lord Jesus Christ that I just love beyond words is that even though he knew by revelation, that Judas would betray him, he loved him to the very end. And he gave Judas every opportunity, since knowledge wise, and in every other category, that Judas had as much privilege to walk properly as any other person. This is remarkable. The reason I tell you this because the word of God says sowing Josh in in John Mead, read your verse, John chapter six. Listen to this. John chapter six. Well, let me begin with verse 66. And read it to you. From that time many of His disciples went back to walk dumar with him. You know, I had a great following, as long as he fed them station, home homemade bread and a few other items, healed their sick and everything else. When the chips were down, so to speak, and he had told them about his impending death, and that it was necessary for him to die, that they could live. They couldn't understand it. And they said, Well, this is just cockeyed. This is just crazy. And from that day on, some of his closest friends left him, they won't know more with him, Then said Jesus, onto the 12. Will he also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord Doom, shall we go, thou has storage of eternal life. Isn't that lovely? And we believe in our shore that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus answered them, the 12 have not I chosen you, 12. And one of you is a lot. Devil. He spake of Judas Iscariot, the sun assignment, for he it was that should betray him being one of what did he know he was going to betray Him by revelation, for the Spirit was upon him without watts, measured. And yet, even though Judas betrayed him after the day of the resurrection, look how loving Jesus Christ is to Judas, who betrayed isn't that wonderful? When they vary six, to 12, therefore we're coming together. This is the day of the ascension 40 days after the resurrection. They asked of him, saying, Lord will follow at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel. And he said unto them, it's not for you, the 12th to know that time of the seasons, which the Father footnotes, but he shall receive power. After that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, you shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria, now to the uttermost lot. And when He had spoken these things, while they they who be held, he was taken up and what is that but the ascension, the ascension? Behold, he was taken up, and a cloud received Him Jesus out of there, the 12 one site, and wild days a 12. Look steadfastly up toward heaven. As he went up, behold, two men stood by them bamboo, the 12 apostles, including Judas Iscariot, in white apparel, white apparel, verse 11, which also said, Ye man of Galilee, whoo, right, there is the key.

19:03

When the apostle went when the apostles were spoken to, by these two angels, which appeared as men and stood by the apostles, in light of peril, after Jesus Christ had ascended. These two men when they spoke, they were no longer the 12. But now they were only men of Galilee. The 12 apostles, were not all men of Galilee. 11 of the 12 were men of Galilee. But one of the 12 Judas Iscariot was not of Galilee. Judas Iscariot, came from the city of kettles or Iscar, as they call it in southern Judea. He was the only Judean among the 12 apostles. All the rest of the apostles were Galilee In the Gospel Did I give you the gospel John Mulago 671 very large Joshua then 1525 is the record you could put down. Joshua 15 Verse 25, and hey sir, had to ask. And kitty Oh, Kenny Oh, k e r i o th King James says, this is the word Iscar Samaria. Judas Iscariot, Judas Iscariot Judas from the city of Iscar Old Testament CaTiO this was the only apostle who came from Judea from the city of CaTiO or eschar, as it's called in the Bible. This was Joshua 1525. So, when Jesus Christ ascended on the day of the ascension, Altar 12 were there at the time of the ascension. But immediately afterwards, when these two angels who appeared as men spoke, they spoke only to galleons which also said, you may have won Galilee at some time, between Verse 10 And verse 11. The first phase of verse 11, Judas Iscariot left because when the angel spoke, they said, Ye men of Galilee, lice tangy gazing up into heaven, the same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so common like manner as GFC watch him go into heaven. Verse 12x, one, then return day they who? The men of Galilee That's right, the 11 then return without Judas Iscariot, what's your pronoun pronouns, your pronoun is controlled by its closest associated noun, right? Manna Galilee in verse 11, is its closest associate a noun. Now the pronouns pick up again. Then returns at the 11 unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem, a Sabbath days journey. And when they they hope, the 11 apostles were come in, they the 11 went up into an upper road where abode both here it is all 11 Peter, James, John, Andrew, Philip, Thomas Bartolomeo, Matthew, James, a son of Alphaeus, and Simon's lotus, and Judas, the brother of us, not Judas Iscariot, but Judas, the brother James, there were two Judas says, You got to keep them straight. These 11 Verse 14, all continued with one accord and prayer in prayer and supplication with the women and marry the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren, the brothers. And in those days, what days, there are days between the ascension and the day of Pentecost, the ascension is 40 days after the Lord's resurrection, Pentecost is 10 days after that, in those days, when they were abiding in the upper row, the 11 Apostles in those days, between the day of the ascension and the day of Pentecost, Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, the number of names together were about and 20 million brethren, the Scripture must be been fulfilled with the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake. Did you notice that? It was the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit God, the giver, who by the mouth of David was space who did the speaking, David, but why he was as the Holy Spirit gave it to a by Revelation where the knowledge were the wisdom before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that was, took Jesus verse 74, he was numbered with us and had obtained part of this ministry. Now this man, Judas, see here, they're going to select someone to take Judas this place is Judas hanged himself before the death of the Lord Jesus Christ. Why didn't Jesus Christ select someone to take his place out? Why does Judas fit right here and I hope, after the ascension and before the day of Pentecost, because on the day of the ascension, Judas was still there. Then Judas went out and hanged himself. Now between the day of the ascension and the day of Pentecost over here, when the disciples were gathered together, including the 11, plus, making a total of about 119, Peter got up and he said, Well, AlFalah Judas is dead and gone. The word says somebody to take Judas is place, we better select someone to take his place. And he gives us the great reality here in verse 18. Now this man, Judas purchase, field, with a reward of iniquity. The word purchase is the word provided in Matthew chapter 10. And I'd like for you to look at this because we're now going to synthesize all of these truths regarding Judas from the records in Matthew and in Mark and show you that there is no contradiction whatsoever in Matthew chapter 10. Matthew chapter 10, in verse nine, provide neither gold nor lot, nor brass in your last purchase the word provide. The word provide in verse nine is the same word as the word purchased in verse 18. of excellent. Now, this command purchase he provided, when I you understand both, if you go out and you purchase for yourself a new automobile, you provide for yourself into automobile. Now, this is Yossi. Now this man purchased He provided a field and the word field here is this word. th o r i o n Carlone codium. The word Catriona means property. Dr. O P bi T ly? Isn't it wonderful that I have the privilege of writing on the board? He purchased, he purchased he provided for himself a property a lot. His own lot. He provided for himself a property with a reward of iniquity. Right here is where they read into it. They say the reward of iniquity that he provided this property with were the 30 pieces of silver that had been given to him by the priest to be trained the Lord Jesus Christ into their hand. This is not true. The reward of iniquity is the money he stole from the purse, which he had the control of. He was trained you're of the apostles. He had the purse, and he stole money out of that purse. And that stolen money is the reward. The word reward is wages. It's the wages of iniquity of his sin. This is what he's still in John, chapter 12. It says John chapter 12. In verse six this he said, The talking about Judas, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a rock face, who was a thief. Judas was a thief, and had the bag and bear what was put Darien.

29:36

Judas was the treasurer. And he just 10,000 a lot of money from the bank. That trust and as he embezzled this money. It is this money which is the wages of iniquity. And from this stolen money, Judas provided for himself a property for his old age. Did you know he wanted to live? Beautifully after all this thing was over with, and he wanted to have a little property. Little home wanted a three bedroom, maybe a two bedroom I don't know. And this is where he wanted to spend the last days and to get this property, he stole some money out of the bag, which is the wages of iniquity, and with Don's wages he purchased are provided for himself. It caught he own a property and falling headlong. He burst asunder in the midst and all his bowels gushed out on his own property. That's right, he committed suicide. After the day of the FR, on the day of the ascension, and sometime before the record in X lon, where they selected someone to take Judas his place, Judas went back home to his own property, his own place, and there, he hanged himself. But here it says in Jai Matthew it said he hanged himself here in x, it says and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst of all these vowels go stuff. Now, this is not a contradiction. It is our misunderstanding of what we today mean, when a man hangs himself compared to what the Bible means and the historic records of the old times mean, when he talks about a man hanging himself, it simply means he committed suicide. Today, when we talk about a man hanging himself, we know he committed suicide, but he borrowed himself a rope or a necktie or a belt or something to do the job with. But in the Bible, it simply means committing suicide by impaling yourself upon a sharp instrument. A few years ago, I think it was Life magazine, at this time of the year carried pictures of the hanging of individuals, in olden times in the Roman Empire as before, and it showed pictures exactly like the rectory here indicates of men impaling themselves upon sharp instruments like a wooden spear, or a soul, and his son, or son, Jonathan, on the day that lost the battle wasn't a solid committed suicide by falling upon his own sword. That's what the word means when it says they hang themselves simply means that he went out and he impaled himself upon the sharp instruments so that when he did this, what happened? his bowels did was Gestalt. That's why he says that's what it means. When I was a boy, when I was an adult, he admitted, I had a real problem figured this out, because I finally got to thinking that summer either used to pour rope. Or he hanged himself so long on that tree limb that the road got rough. So finally he fell down on that tree. And it must have been I saw this in a commentary once that when he did fall down, off of the rope broke and he fell down, he fell over a precipice that's how he fouls guys stone. Now, it simply means that he impaled himself upon a sharp instrument. That's how he killed himself. And I want you to see that he did this upon his own one property, right at his own home place that's rated. Verse 19, says, and it was known unto all the dwellers that drew him, everybody in Jerusalem knew that he had impaled himself upon this sharp instrument, his bows, gosh, Donnie was on his own property. Everybody knew that.

34:12

In so much as that field is called in that proper tongue Akadama. That is to say, that field of odd what they call this, when he bought it, no, he purchased for himself a property. But after he committed suicide on that property, killed himself. After that, people began to refer to that property as bought field and the word field is the word caught, he owns the property of us. And I want you to note that there it is called Akadama Akadama name over here. That's what they called it. Now, let's just want access. Now let's go down Matthew 27 and see accurately what it says Matthew 27 Then Judas, verse three, which had betrayed Jesus him, when he saw that Jesus was condemned, repetitive himself the word repetitive simply as felt sorry. And brought again the 30 pieces of silver, he brought the 30 pieces of silver to the chief priests and what else? He brought it back to them, right? I have been in that I have betrayed innocent blood. No, I have betrayed on the innocent blood net remarkable. And I'd been just any person, it would say I betrayed innocent blood, but it since it was the Lord Jesus Christ. Even he said, according to record here, he has betrayed the innocent blood. And they, they hope that chief priests and elders are very straight. And they said, once that to us, sees out his eyes. If you've been trained into some blood, that's what you dealt for, we gave you 30 pieces of silver. Now you're back here to give it back to us. If you can, trade is not your fault, not ours. And he verse five, Judas, he cast down the pieces that 30 pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and did was hanged himself. It doesn't say you went out and hanged himself immediately. It simply gives us the record of what happened after this man threw the 30 pieces of silver down. The Gospel of Matthew put his whole life from that moment on, wrapped up in one little verse, He drew back the 30 pieces of silver saying I have betrayed DNS of God. And he went out and it was hanging but you have to go to the book of Acts to find out REM wa tn he hanged himself God hearing Matthew, it doesn't say when it simply tells you the end of that man's life right. Now very sick. And the chief priests took remarkable word took the word on vinyl, they manifested what to do with it, the seller pieces, the 30 pieces, they took it they deliberately took it and said, It is not lawful for him to put them in the treasury, because it is the price of US. Why? Why are these 30 pieces of silver the price of blood, because this is what the chief priests and elders had paid to Judas to be trade Jesus Christ into their hands. That's why that money was blood money. It was given for the life of that man. If Judas had it, he brought Jesus to their attention. This is why it's called the price of blood.

38:23

That's what they paid. They deliberately took this, they said it's not lawful to put it in the treasury. Because it's the price of blood. And they took console, one binos again, console, they deliberately sat down and had a meeting of the Board of Directors. And they bought, they bought with them that 30 pieces of silver, the potter's field to bury strangers in these cheap priests and scribes deliberately held console, they sat down and said we cannot use the 30 pieces of silver, it's blood money. We cannot use it and put it back into the treasury. Therefore, what are we going to do with it? And you know what they decided they deliberately decided to purchase the bot. The word bot simply means in the open marketplace. They went to the marketplace and bought with them the potter's field, the potter's field, and the word field is the word. And pile of different words than the word field is in Acts chapter one. They bought and I'm close a larger place not just a property but a larger place and our growth. If you have a 50 acre field of beatings it's called a non growth But if you've got 100 by 200, it's called a cardio property with them the potter's field to bury strangers in. Wherefore, verse eight, that our girls, that field was called the field of art was it called this when the chief priests and the scribes bought it? No, it was just a property selling at public offices. And chief priests and scribes went in there, they had three pieces of silver to expand, they couldn't put it back into the treasury. And so they said, We're going to buy a property and they field to bury strangers in, though don't have no bloodline or no family to bury them, no place to go to be buried, we'll bury them in them. Later on, when people found out that these teeth priests and scribes had purchased this particular field, with the 30 pieces of silver, then it became called the field of odd blood. And the word blood is the word. Hammad post ATM at Amato's, entirely different words, than the word Akadama of Acts chapter one. Wherefore that field was called the Field of Blood, until this day, then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet saying, and they took the 30 pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, who they have the children of Israel the value and gave them for the public field, as the Lord appointed me. Now, there's not a tremendous record from God's Word. The record didn't match you, as a record didn't just fit like a hand in a glove, provided you watch watch written and you watch it carefully. If you make these two identical, records identical, you have developed a problem which then you are going to have to explain. But if you just leave them set within the context of the confines of word there with reason accurately and understand what is written, again, your Bible fits like a hand in a glove. And there is nothing you have to explain nothing you have to throw away. Judas betrayed the Lord Jesus Christ ducked the 30 pieces of silver throw them back, the chief priests couldn't put them into the temple treasury. So they picked them up. And later on, they bought our field to bury strangers in and when people found out that they bought that with that blood money they had paid for the betrayal of the Lord Jesus Christ, the people call it the Field of Blood. But before that, Judas had purchased for himself with money which he had stolen from the bag, his own personal property. And after the day of the ascension, Judas went home to his own property. And there he hanged himself by impaling himself upon a sharp instrument, so that his bowels got stuck. And that property of his was called the Field of Blood, the Akadama because it was there that he hanged himself. And that puts the whole word of God together with the same mathematical exactness and scientific precision with which God's truth always stands, when we rightly divide the Word of Truth.
