Victor Paul Wierwille was a Bible scholar and teacher for over four decades.

By means of Dr. Wierwille's dynamic teaching of the accuracy and integrity of God's Word, foundational class and advanced class graduates of Power for Abundant Living have learned that the one great requirement for every student of the Bible is to rightly divide the Word of Truth. Thus, his presentation of the Word of God was designed for students who desire the in-depth-accuracy of God’s Word.

In his many years of research, Dr. Wierwille studied with such men as Karl Barth, E. Stanley Jones, Glenn Clark, Bishop K.C. Pillai, and George M. Lamsa. His formal training included Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Theology degrees from Mission House (Lakeland) College and Seminary. He studied at the University of Chicago and at Princeton Theological Seminary from which he received a Master of Theology degree in Practical Theology. Later he completed his work for the Doctor of Theology degree.

Dr. Wierwille taught the first class on Power for Abundant Living in 1953.

Books by Dr. Wierwille include: Are the Dead Alive Now? published in 1971; Receiving the Holy Spirit Today published in 1972; five volumes of Studies in Abundant Living— The Bible Tells Me So (1971), The New, Dynamic Church (1971), The Word's Way (1971), God's Magnified Word (1977), Order My Steps in Thy Word (1985); Jesus Christ Is Not God (1975); Jesus Christ Our Passover (1980); and Jesus Christ Our Promised Seed (1982).

Dr. Wierwille researched God's Word, taught, wrote, and traveled worldwide, holding forth the accuracy of God's "wonderful, matchless" Word.

Take your Bibles tonight and turn to First Corinthians chapter two. Thank you, Rhoda. Thank you, Dorothy. First Corinthians Chapter Two the greatest revelation in the Word of God is written in the book of Romans. And in the book of Ephesians, directly to the church. As I said to my class, last Sunday afternoon, by the way, on Sunday evening, when we were meeting at the Imperial room of the Imperial house, motel, and whatever else it is outside of Dayton, north of Dayton, that when the revelation of God's word was given, the greatest revelation that was given was given in the book of Romans. But it reached its height in Ephesians. And if they were going to start reading the Bible, never start reading in the book of Genesis, do not start reading in the book of Exodus, you start reading Ephesians. If you know, you know that you're born again. And yet you know that you're a Christian, then if you want to know exactly what's for you, and to you, right down the line, you're read the book of Ephesians. The reason the book of Romans is so tremendous is because it was the greatest revelation, comparing grace and law. The Book of Romans was the revelation of God's grace in Christ Jesus, and how that when Christ came with this grace of God upon us, that the law terminated, he was because he was the fulfillment of it. This revelation that it's by grace and not by law, really disturbed the Jewish community of that day. And of that time, even as it disturbs the Christian, so called the Protestant and all the other communities today. We say today that we are saved by grace. But we act like as if we're saved by works just as much or more than they did in that time. Therefore, when they forgot, when the people forgot the revelation of the greatness of the book of Romans, God had Powell to write any epistle to the church. And among the people to whom it was sent, was the church in Clarence, and it's called in our Bible, the Epistle to the Corinthians. But it wasn't just to the Corinthians, it was to the saints, the believers, those born again of God and spirit. And God had this book written, specifically to men and women who had forgotten the greatness of the revelation of the Book of Romans and had moved into practical error. The book of Corinthians straightens up the error in the practice of a man or a woman's life, for failure, of adherence to the revelation in the book of Romans. Therefore, when you read the book of Corinthians, you will see a lot of practical air that has crept into the church, and how this practical error was met with the accuracy of God's Word. This we should have known was highly probable impossible, for the Scripture tells us that all scripture is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness. The book of Corinthians, reprove, it corrects, it gives instruction in righteousness. And I want to go to the second chapter with you tonight. That's great second chapter of Corinthians, first epistle. Perhaps we ought to begin with the 29th verse of the first chapter to get the impact of the second chapter.

04:29

no flesh should glow rate in His presence. If you advocate works, you advocate the flesh. Right? No flesh is to go right in his presence. Because verse 30, says, of him, our bond, our D in Christ Jesus, we are of God, and we are to glory in that which we are born. Many men and women, glory of their firstborn. They say, well, so and so is my father or so and so is my mother. They can glory in the first birth, how much more can we go rate in the second birth because of the second birth, we are born of God, born of Him, in Christ Jesus, who have God, Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us, wisdom, righteousness and sanctification, and redemption. That according verse 31, as it is written, he's that glory, let Him glory in what? In the Lord? And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech, or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. What a tremendous change the Apostle Paul must have had in his life. Because in the Epistles you read about his academic background, he said, Are they Hebrews? So am I. Alright, are they of the stock of so and so? So am I have they gone to great schools of learning survive in prisons, more often in dedications, everything else, the apostle Paul had a tremendous academic education. Compared to what we call today, he would have had his doctor's degree he would have, he was highly educated. And yet, when he came to God's people, he somehow or other had taken that great education yet, and he put it under the so called feet of God. And He allowed his life to manifest for something more important, something greater than even his wonderful education. He said, I didn't come with excellency of speech, are of my own type of wisdom, and he had a lot of it. He had great, he had a great ability to speak. You know, he had a great ability from the few occasions when you read about his sermons, in part which he preached in the book of Acts, that man had a great ability in speech. But he didn't come with excellency of his sense knowledge, speech. That's what it's talking about. We do not glow rate in the in the flesh. We do not glory in anything, but in the Lord. Therefore, I didn't come with excellency of speech, or of my own sense, knowledge, wisdom, declaring, however unto you, the testimony of God, the word testimony is the word mystery. That's a tremendous truth there, which you must change. Because testimony just is there is not in the text at all. It's the word mystery. See, I didn't come to you with excellency of speech or wisdom, declaring onto you the mystery of God. This mystery of God he had received by revelation, he didn't have it because of his excellency of speech, or because of his wisdom. He had it because of the grace of God who gave it to him. Verse two says, For I determined not to know anything among you save Jesus Christ, and Him what? Crucified, verse two is a derogatory statement. It's sort of a sarcastic punch at the people in the church. Because he wanted to teach them the greatness of the mystery. He wanted to give them the abundance of God's word, but they couldn't stand the abundance. They couldn't take that much. Therefore, all he could give them was Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. That's all they could stand. You cannot put five gallons of water in a five gallon bucket.

09:01

Let's turn it around. Now you can put a five gallon water, I was thinking, you can't put five gallons of water in a gallon bucket at one time, unless you empty the gallon four different times. It's where I got my fingers mixed up. That try now if the people can't take a great deal of the Word of God, then you can't teach him a great deal. Right. One of the most marvelous things about the way ministry and our people across the neath is that God has given us the hungriest people in the world today. And that most of these people, at least you can teach a little bit of the greatness of God's word, and some of our people you can teach an abundance of it. They're hungry for the greatness of God's word. But over there in Florida, they weren't hungry for it. They couldn't stand it. So when he came to them, the only thing he could talk to the rank and file About was Jesus Christ and Him crucified. And that's about as far as we've gone in the organized church today. Very little, you can teach them about the power of the Holy Spirit, about the mystery about the greatness of God's Word. As you prayed tonight, he said, he is worried above his name, how few people know that. And we are not saved in Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Were not saved in Jesus Christ and Him crucified. The center of our salvation is not the cross. The center of our salvation is the resurrected Christ. And you can't get saved, and you can't get people saved today by just preaching or teaching them, Jesus Christ, his walk here upon the earth, and his crucifixion. But that's all he could take. The reason is they couldn't take anymore. That's why he can't, couldn't give them anymore because they couldn't take anymore. Verse three, and I was with you and weakness, fear and much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, yet that not in man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit, and of power. The Aramaic gives it in demonstration of spirit of the spirit of power. So it gives, I think that's very accurate, very wonderful. In demonstrates of the spirit of power. Well, what demonstration do we have of the spirit, the manifestations right? Speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy, word of knowledge, where the wisdom discerning the spirits, faith, miracles and healing. This is the demonstration. Paul said, even though they couldn't accept more than Jesus Christ and Him crucified, he was with them. He identified himself with them in their weaknesses. And he said, fellas, I know how you are, I know exactly how you are. But to try to build them up and to bring them up, so they would be able to get more, he said, I didn't teach you with enticing words, or give you a man's wisdom, or the philosophical background of this or that. He said, I taught you a demonstration of the Spirit of power. That's wonderful. So he must have demonstrated, they must have shown it first. That's how he set the ministry before them. The reason being, verse five, that your faith, your faith, your believing, should not stand in the wisdom of what bought in the power of God. Verse six, I'll be it. We speak wisdom, among them that our perfect inside of the fellowships, to whom he was ministering, and among whom he was ministering, to whom he was writing, there were some who were able to receive greater truth. And so, to those he spoke wisdom, that those that are perfect, the word perfect here, the only place that used this particular word, I remember correctly, it means the initiated ones. In the Greek religions, in the pagan religions of Greece, whenever they had arrived at the highest stage of their religion, when they had reached the 33rd degree or whatever it is up there, the highest degree. That's the word they used. They were perfect. The initiated ones, those who aren't completely initiated, there are no longer pledges, or kneel fights, they are initiated, all the way in. Among those he initiated one those who really had the ability. He spoke wisdom, but not the wisdom of this world, nor of what the princes of this world that come to not, but we speak the wisdom of God, in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory, tremendous verse eight, which none of the princes of this world knew And the head prints of this world is who say, at all his cohorts under him make up the rest of the princes, none of the princes of this world knew. Or had they known the mystery, whatever that mystery is, had they known that they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory. You see why he couldn't teach this to many people. There weren't many people could understand, because they didn't want to. Just like today, there are very few people, you can teach the greatness of this revelation two. Because we have become so acclimatized to nothing, that the moment somebody has a little more than that, we get confused or something. And he couldn't teach them the greatness of the mystery. He just couldn't share it with them. Because they couldn't accept it. They could only go as far as Jesus Christ and Him crucified. But this mystery is so great. That had Satan known, he never would have crucified the Lord Jesus Christ. And those of you have sat in the foundational classes know what the mystery is, because we read it every class is that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs and have the same body, that God would crawl out for himself, out of both Jew and Gentile, a new body, that Christ would be the head of that body, and that the Gentiles, as well as the Jew, would be called out, and those who would hear and be called out, they would make up that new body, that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs and have the same body. Secondly, that it would be Christ in you the hope of glory. And what a tremendous revelation. That's why Satan would never have crucified the Lord Jesus Christ. How do you know this greatness of this mystery? For a while Jesus was here upon Earth, how many places could he be at one time? One just is just like you tonight. You can't be here and home at the same time. You can't do what people talk about send their spirits that's just doesn't work. You're here tonight. You're not at home. When Jesus Christ was here upon earth, he could only be at one place at one time. But today, since the day of Pentecost, when men and women are born again of God's Spirit, and it's Christ in you, the hope for glory, every place where there is a believer, Christ is there. So he can be as many places today as there are believers. This is many places. Had Satan known this mystery, he never would have crucified the Lord of Glory. He'd rather have Jesus at one place than have him at 10,000 places at one time. Sometimes when you look around about you, you figure Oh, Satan must have won anyways. Was where are the believers that are just really walking the catwalk with our knowledge of the word? Well, anyways, the Bible still says it's true. Because if only two of us believe that would be more than just one and he would not have crucified the Lord of Glory. And I'm sure there are a lot more than two of us who believe the greatness of God's word, amen. You said it boy.

18:51

Verse nine, I love very much, because they teach it just the opposite of the way it stated in the Word of God. You know, how they teach it, they say, I have not seen here these are err heard the wonderful things that God has in store for us in the future. Sometime in the sweet by and by when you're bringing the sheaves are something verse nine says, but as it is written, I have not seen nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God has brought, prepared for them that love him, But God hath revealed them unto us. By his luck, if he's revealed them unto us, then I has see right here has heard it has entered into our hearts. The things which God has prepared for them that love him. Isn't that some a man is right by what a tremendous thrill it is. It's no thrill to to be a Christian and say, Well, you can't know anything now. You guys Wait until your die? No, no. But what a wonderful thrill to the soul of a believer to know that things which I have not seen here is their Earhart, these are entered in the heart of man. The greatness of the love that God has prepared for them that love him, but that he has revealed it unto us the church, that he has revealed it unto us the church revealed what the love the things which God has prepared for them that love him, this has revealed unto us so tremendous thing for the spirits search without theme j, the deep things of God, verse 11, for that man knoweth the deep things of God, save the spirit of man, which is in him, even so the deep things, gotta add the word deep in front of things in verse 11, every place. Even so, the deep things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God, verse 12, now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are reluctantly given unto us Hmm. Know that our walk freely, Freely you have received remember that Jesus said, and freely we don't want give, that we might know that things that we might know the things that we might know plants, you see that, that you might know, not question not doubt, not be uncertain about that we thought that we might know. The things that are freely given us a lot. That's why I had seen that's why ear has heard, because we know kn O W. How do we know from His Word, His words, His Well, we read His word that would just address to us. That's how we know. Why do we have verse 13? Which things also we speak? Not with the words, in the words with the words, which man's wisdom teachers, but which the Holy Ghost teacher, again, let's take verse 13, and accurately understanding the things which are free to given unto us of God, Which things also we speak. We tell people about, not with the words of man's wisdom, which man's wisdom teaches, but words are with those words, which Holy Spirit teaches. Where we compare spiritual things with what's right. For the natural man in verse 14, but the natural man receiveth, not the things of the Spirit of God. By the way, in verse 12, the word receive it is the word Lombardo. In verse 14, the word received with is the word deco mine, receive it spiritually, The natural man receive it spiritually, not the things of the Spirit of God, because he's not born again.

23:46

for they are foolishness unto him, neither can he knows them, because they are a lot, spiritually discerned. And as I teach in every class where I teach, that things of the natural world can be and may be known by the five senses, but things of the spiritual world can only be known how, via the spirit. Things in the natural realm we can know by experience, but things in the spiritual realm, you will have to know by of the Spirit. And then after you know it via the Spirit, they may come into the experiential manifestation of life. That's true. Verse 15, but he that is spiritual judges all things that he himself is judged of everybody in the community is judged of Whoa. You know that because who saved us, Jesus Christ, God in Jesus Christ, and who does the judging the God in Jesus Christ who saved us? He is the only one who can do the judging And he has said he is not going to judge us in the sense in which this word judges you, therefore he has given to us to judge all spiritual things. Yet we are not to be judged of no man, but we're judged by the word. Don't forget it. No man, but the word for the word will, at the place where wrong will do what, reprove us. It's the word, not man. Verse 16, for who have known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him. The text gives it that he may teach it, who has known the mind of the Lord, that He may teach it? Well, how do you get the mind of the Lord Plus, you're getting from the word. So if we know the Word of God, we can teach it. That's what that verse says. Understand, for let me give it to you, in essence, for he who knows the mind of the Lord, by the Word of God. Let that person teach it. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that He may teach it, teach it? If you know the mind of the Lord, then you can do what? Teach it. instruct him. instruct him King James, who's gonna instruct god. Oh, it's almost ridiculous. Ridiculous is that the thing that we should have no long ago didn't fit. So you're working. But we have the mind of Christ. Well, how do we get the mind of Christ? By His word, right? Quite sure. It's all hidden just back on the word. If we know the word and rightly divided, we can teach it, then we have the mind of the Lord. Then we can share it. That's why he says, and I brethren, could not speak unto you, as unto spiritual, but as on to carnal even as unto babes in what? Christ? Were they in Christ? Sure, they had been born again. And at the moment they were born again. At that moment, it was Christ in them, and they in Christ and being a babe in Christ. They just, were still babies. That's why you can only preach unto them. Jesus Christ and Him crucified. He couldn't give them the great mystery. They were still babies. He couldn't see them great. juicy steaks, because they could only stand to point milk or something skim milk or something, they just couldn't stand the meat of the word. And notice that they're carnal, their carnal. I have fed you with milk, and not with me. Or his or tour up until this time, you were not able to bear it. Yet now you're not able to swallow it or to take it or ye are yet what's called carnal. Were they born again a god spirit. Right, but they were carnal. And the reason they weren't because the word had not received preeminence in their life, it had not permeated their life. And it tells you why. They're we're still ending. It when people are born again, I've got three, you've got envy for anybody. You just haven't worked on the word yet it hasn't permeated, otherwise you have no envy.

29:07

Sure. There's envy among the people there strike their divisions, this is among God's faithful. He says they're kind of because they walk just like mere man.

29:25

Verse force for a while lamb says, I am a Paul and another I am of a policy. Are you not carnal? Who then is Paul who is a policy that ministers by whom you believe? Even as the Lord gave to every man I have planted Apollo's watered, but it still took God a man and we it takes me always back to that where we started and I let no place do a race in the presence of the Lord. We glory in the Lord and not in a place. That's what he was trying to say. But one group said, Well, we like the way CFS combs his hair we'd like bought Paul foots better. And a polos the way he dresses, we liked that very much. Paul says that for drawing your carnal, he said, Get your eyes apart, you'll be rid of envy and strife and all that division. Because it is a it isn't a path. They're just ministers who ministered the word by whom you believed. But it is God who had to give the increase, and boy that striven if God doesn't do it, where the soup no man can teach it well enough to get the job done, it is God who has to do the job. Man can teach it so that some other man or woman can understand it. But God has to do the work of getting them born again, filled with the power of God, this is God's job. He that planet and he that watereth are one and every man shall receive Lombardo, his own reward according to his own labor. Boy, isn't that tremendous? Verse nine. Are we are Labor's together with our neighbors. It's better than that. We are Labor's together with another Christian. No, it's even better than that. That's wonderful. Our hearts thrilled to be with other believers and labor together with them. Like I do when I teach when I come in Newark, mild heart are just thrilled because you're there and others are there who are with me in the ministry. That's wonderful. But this is even better for where Labor's together with home. Bad. Boy, I want a tremendous to be a labor together with him.

31:56

We're laborers together with Bob. What a ministry this gives us. I said to Reverend Chamberlain, Reverend crone this afternoon to Jim and Rick,

32:14

we talk about the work of the ministry. Suppose we stay up all night, and do something for the work of the way of ministry. So what we ought to be giving more time, we ought to be putting more of our effort in you know why? Because we've got boys and girls in the armed forces of our nation, we got some of our fellows down in Vietnam, awake 24 or 48 hours, never get any sleep that God has stay right on guard. If we can do this, under those kinds of conditions, if we are labors together with God, can we not put forth more effort to get the word out? Don't tell me you're tired. Who's kidding? Who? You're not tired. You're tired of being tired or something? Why? Who has who has really stood? You see, this is what I'm driving at? Where we are Labor's together with God people. And that means, suppose I have to teach an extra three hours. So suppose I have to read another manuscript and corrected so up. Is there anything that I can do that is too much being a laborer together with God? And we are God's husbandry, we are beds building. We're God's building, according to the grace of God, verse 10, which is given unto me as a wise master builder. I have laid the foundation and another build at their own. But let every man take heed how he builds their on on that foundation, for other foundation can no man lay than that which that is laid, which is her, Jesus Christ, that foundation, Jesus Christ is the foundation. And no man can lay any other foundation. That's the one and only one, four. There's only one name whereby we must be saved. That's the name of Jesus Christ. That's the only foundation. Now if any man the man is the word body, and the essence of verse 12, reads as follows. Now, if anybody, including Powell, build upon This foundation, not Jesus Christ, but upon this foundation, one foundation, a foundation of gold, of silver, of precious stone, of wood, of hay of stubble. If you build on those kinds of foundations, which is another foundation than the foundation which is laid in Jesus Christ, every man's work, verse 30, shall be made manifest. For the day sometime in the future, you're going to declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire. The fire should try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide, which he has built there on Jesus Christ, he shall receive a reward. But if you build on gold, silver, all of these other foundations, that work shall be one, suffer, shall be burned. And verse 15 says, He shall suffer loss, the last of the reward, but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire simply because the fire is indicative of the work that he did just burned it up, hay, stubble this kind of thing, but he himself safe.

36:26

Verse 16, no you not that ye the people of God, the born again believers, that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you. The Body of Believers make up the temple. The word temple here is the word neurons, and oh as it is the holy place where the Divine Presence is manifested. No, you're not that the body of believers is the holy place where the Divine Presence is manifested. How is the Divine Presence manifested in the temple of God, the body of believers, by the operation of the manifestations of the Spirit. The individual believer is a tabernacle. The united body of believers is the temple. And the Spirit of God dwells in you in the temple in the believers.

37:51

If any man verse 17, If any man defile the temple of God, If any man any believer defiled that temple of God, the body of believers, him shot God destroy him is not the word in the text at all. The Greek word is the word who totes h o u t, O S, this is the root word. The word means this work. th is WR K, this work. If any man defile the temple of God, how can a man defile the temple of God? Because he's trying to build on some other foundation than that which is laid in Jesus Christ. I'm born again of God's Spirit. But I tried to build upon My academic background. Or I tried to build on my denomination Allegiance. I tried to build on some other foundation than back which is laid in Jesus Christ. And this is what the files got the tempo the body of believers. Now if any man including Powell, including Mr. Powell anybody else if any man defiled that temple? This this work this work shall God destroy for the temple of God is holy. Which temple II are him shall God destroy if he's born again or God Spirit you know that's impossible. But the word that that man that will be destroyed for it's built on Hey, stop About this kind of stuff that we read before, how wonderful, that verse, they've had a lot of trouble with verse 17, no trouble with it just rightly divided. Just work the Word. Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seem to be wise in this world, you see how this all fits together? Because if you're wise in this world, then you want to build on gold or silver or precious stone, something else. You want to get away from the foundation with your sense, knowledge, wisdom. Let him become a fool that he may become wise. Verse 19, for the wisdom of this world is What foolishness with God, for it is written, He that take us allies, in their own walk, craftiness, and again, verse 20, The Lord knows what the thoughts of what that they are veined. Therefore, verse 21, let no man glow rate in men. For our things are yours in Christ Jesus, right, wonderful weather, Paul, or pilots, or C fats, or the world, or life or death, or things present, or things to come, all are yours, and your Christ and Christ is up. Isn't that wonderful? Therefore all things are out. We don't have to be concerned about building on foundations of wood or stubble, or stone or anything else. We have Christ Jesus, and upon that Christ Jesus we build if he said, so we say so. If he is wrong, then we are what? Wrong. But ladies and gentlemen, I'd rather stake my life upon Christ, Jesus being right, upon the reality of the Word of God as it was given when holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit, then to stick my light upon the wisdom of the wisest of all men, since knowledge wise.

42:20

This is why I think we are dedicated to the greatness of His word. Why I think you people come here Sunday night after Sunday night whenever you can, to be a part of this research and teaching ministry. Because you know, within the depths of your heart, that unless we come back to the Word, and get an accurate knowledge of God's word, and rightly divide this word, we have nothing to hold on to except man's opinion. And some of us have become so desperately soured on man's opinion. We no longer want man's opinion, we want God's word. Or it's God's word, that live and abideth forever. Not my word, or Paul's word, or SI fasces. But the word of God live, and abideth forever. We were talking last night, with our friends from Louisville, we have come in here for the weekend, be a part of the ministry. Part of the fellowship. We're talking about how experiences vary in different people's lives. And that you can't teach experience. Because experiences will come and go. But the word of God live with and abideth forever. And when we teach the Word, we will have experiences. But that experience or those experiences we have are strictly yours in Christ Jesus, but it's the word that has to have preeminence overall.
