Romans Corps Teachings - Notes - 1973

In the study, “The Church the Great Mystery Revealed,” Dr. Victor Paul Wierwille wrote:

All modern-day confusion is for the most part due to the church epistles addressed to the Christian being substituted by sections of the Bible written for the believer's learning. There are seven epistles addressed directly to the church: Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Thessalonians...Thus, today there is a flamboyant ignorance among all Christians concerning all that God has made Christ to be unto His people and all that He has made them to be in Him. The believers, not knowing their standing in Christ, their completeness and perfection in Him, are blown about with every wind of doctrine. Many Christians declare and know that they are justified by the grace of God, and yet their actions indicate that they seek to be justified by works.

Only the understanding and acceptance of the great revelation given in the church epistles will ever deliver a believer from all the new sects, doctrines, theories and schools of thought which have caused deleterious effects in our Christian midst.

True understanding of the Church epistles requires more than a cursory reading of the scriptures. It takes careful, honest workmanship of the Word of God.

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15, KJV.

Every person stands approved before God according to his handling of the Word of God. We have the true Word of God only to the measure and extent that we rightly divide that Word of truth. No one is at liberty to come to the Bible with their own opinions or preconceived ideas. We must come to God's Word and allow it to speak for itself.

The Way Corps teachings present an in-depth study of the Church epistles that enable the student of God's Word to gain a rich, vital understanding of the great revelation specifically addressed to the Church today. Exhaustive research has been done by the teacher, with the assistance, at times, of a research team. That research employed the keys to Biblical research which allow the Scripture to speak for itself. In the course of study, careful consideration was also given to the primary Biblical languages of Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic, as well as figures of speech and Orientalisms (Eastern manners and customs).

Originally taught as part of a Christian leadership training program, these expository teachings examine each epistle line by line and word by word. As the student acquires that comprehensive knowledge, he also obtains the deep understanding of all that God has made the believer to be in Christ. Knowing the “all truth” contained in the church epistles, the believer is no longer bound by the traditions and theories of man and blown about by every wind of doctrine. Rather, he is equipped to know and live the “mystery of God and of Christ,” and to manifest a life which is more than abundant.

About the Transcript

This publication is a verbatim transcript of the audio recordings of Dr. V. P. Wierwille's 1973 Way Corps teachings on the Book of Romans. Generally preferred in research
situations, a verbatim transcript functions to preserve each and every word originally spoken by the speaker. In this regard, a verbatim transcript differs from an edited transcript.

While an edited transcript will make grammatical corrections and possibly minor changes commonly applied when converting the spoken word to the written one for the sake of readability, the verbatim transcript does not incorporate such changes. Considering the minute detail that Dr. Wierwille covered in the teachings to the Way
Corps, the verbatim transcript has been chosen to best serve to protect the integrity of the original teaching and communicate the heart of the teacher.

Victor Paul Wierwille was a Bible scholar and teacher for over four decades.

By means of Dr. Wierwille's dynamic teaching of the accuracy and integrity of God's Word, foundational class and advanced class graduates of Power for Abundant Living have learned that the one great requirement for every student of the Bible is to rightly divide the Word of Truth. Thus, his presentation of the Word of God was designed for students who desire the in-depth-accuracy of God’s Word.

In his many years of research, Dr. Wierwille studied with such men as Karl Barth, E. Stanley Jones, Glenn Clark, Bishop K.C. Pillai, and George M. Lamsa. His formal training included Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Theology degrees from Mission House (Lakeland) College and Seminary. He studied at the University of Chicago and at Princeton Theological Seminary from which he received a Master of Theology degree in Practical Theology. Later he completed his work for the Doctor of Theology degree.

Dr. Wierwille taught the first class on Power for Abundant Living in 1953.

Books by Dr. Wierwille include: Are the Dead Alive Now? published in 1971; Receiving the Holy Spirit Today published in 1972; five volumes of Studies in Abundant Living— The Bible Tells Me So (1971), The New, Dynamic Church (1971), The Word's Way (1971), God's Magnified Word (1977), Order My Steps in Thy Word (1985); Jesus Christ Is Not God (1975); Jesus Christ Our Passover (1980); and Jesus Christ Our Promised Seed (1982).
