Victor Paul Wierwille was a Bible scholar and teacher for over four decades.
By means of Dr. Wierwille's dynamic teaching of the accuracy and integrity of God's Word, foundational class and advanced class graduates of Power for Abundant Living have learned that the one great requirement for every student of the Bible is to rightly divide the Word of Truth. Thus, his presentation of the Word of God was designed for students who desire the in-depth-accuracy of God’s Word.
In his many years of research, Dr. Wierwille studied with such men as Karl Barth, E. Stanley Jones, Glenn Clark, Bishop K.C. Pillai, and George M. Lamsa. His formal training included Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Theology degrees from Mission House (Lakeland) College and Seminary. He studied at the University of Chicago and at Princeton Theological Seminary from which he received a Master of Theology degree in Practical Theology. Later he completed his work for the Doctor of Theology degree.
Dr. Wierwille taught the first class on Power for Abundant Living in 1953.
Books by Dr. Wierwille include: Are the Dead Alive Now? published in 1971; Receiving the Holy Spirit Today published in 1972; five volumes of Studies in Abundant Living— The Bible Tells Me So (1971), The New, Dynamic Church (1971), The Word's Way (1971), God's Magnified Word (1977), Order My Steps in Thy Word (1985); Jesus Christ Is Not God (1975); Jesus Christ Our Passover (1980); and Jesus Christ Our Promised Seed (1982).
Dr. Wierwille researched God's Word, taught, wrote, and traveled worldwide, holding forth the accuracy of God's "wonderful, matchless" Word.
"...The Word's got everything. The greatest love story is in the Word. The greatest short story is in the Word. The greatest Mystery is in the Word. The Word's got it all, man! Sure is something. I'm glad the Lord loves us. All we need to do is just reach out and touch the hem. Sometimes you know, ma'am, we get so sincere and so hard at this thing and we work so hard we miss all the joy of living. We just have to get to the place that we let go and let God. People I just have to get to the place that I implicitly trust His Word. If His Word says so in that which is addressed to me, I have to just believe that Word, no matter what the symptoms are in the senses world. Just reach out and touch the hem....You can pray til your blue in the face and get nothing but "blue face" [audience laughter]. You'll get the answer to that prayer when we do one thing, believe according to his principle and just reach out, sir, and touch the hem of his garment...."
"...Boy isn't this Word of God just exciting and illuminating and alive and dynamic. And how far below par we've lived because everybody's always pushing us down. Who has dared to say to us: we are what the Word of God says we are; that we have what the Word of God says we have (outside of this ministry I haven't seen it)...."
"All believing equals receiving!"
"...We'll read a theorem in a Math class and believe it; we'll drive down the street and see a sign on the bank that says temperature and time, we'll believe it; we get a statement from the bank at the end of the month, we'll believe it; but God who gave us His Word, sir, over a couple thousand years with over 66 different men writing, no contradiction in it, WE WON'T BELIEVE GOD'S WORD BUT WE'LL BELIEVE THE CLOCK ON THE BANK AND THE TEMPERATURE! No wonder we're freezing to death spiritually! That's right. Ladies and gentleman, God is spirit. And if you're ever to know spirit, sir, you've got to go to the Word! It's the Word that makes known the God and Father of our lord Jesus Christ...."
