16 And our lord himself, Jesus Christ, and God, our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace, 17 Encourage your hearts and establish you in every good word and work. 1 Now therefore [to wrap it all up], brothers, pray continually for us in order that the Word of the Lord [regarding the return] may run the race [spread rapidly without interference] and be triumphantly glorified all along the way, even as it has among you.
