Victor Paul Wierwille was a Bible scholar and teacher for over four decades.

He studied at the University of Chicago and at Princeton Theological Seminary from which he received a Master of Theology degree in Practical Theology. Later he completed his work for the Doctor of Theology degree.
Dr. Wierwille taught the first class on Power for Abundant Living in 1953.

We turn to the Book of Life First Thessalonians. Tonight, Blake your heart you know, we have some teachers teaching the children the great accuracy of God's word again tonight. And some of those teachers just love to teach children. But they'd also love to be in the fellowship with us here tonight, where you are. And it sort of hurt my heart to see the tears in the eyes of a couple the teachers that are down there teaching tonight, they'd like to be here, they give almost anything to be where you are sitting in the auditorium. And yet, they're down there teaching our children. They knew what a tremendous blessing the service would be. Like you see, when you work for the Lord and do things in this, you sometimes have to sacrifice on one thing to do another. You can't be over here and over there, too. So they're over there, teaching them the greatness of God's Word. And we're over here fellowshipping together on the greatness of God's Word. So we just are grateful, but it's touched my heart, I know how much they'd like to be here and so forth. But we're doing something that will help our people for those who can retaping the service tonight, your tremendous singing, and all this tomorrow or so they can come and listen to it, or we'll send it to them so they can still hear it. That's the best we can do for them anyway. I think God has given me a tremendous message for the new year for you tonight. When I first got this message for the new year, I thought to myself on this is a stupid thing to pick for the new year, you know how you think sense knowledge wise, won't make any sense that doesn't really gel. And when I began working it, looking at it and letting the things simmer in my heart, then I thought, Well, surely this is just out of his words. And then this morning when Jack Conte taught, he didn't know what I was going to teach tonight. And there Jack was teaching about the Old Testament, being a shadow of the things to come. And Jack said that the shadow has a reality behind it. You cannot have a shadow unless you have a reality. And the reality behind it is the Lord Jesus Christ. That's the reality behind the shadow. And he went through the Old Testament, many places showing where God said, Do not be afraid I am with you. One place after another hug God was with men. And he said that it was the Lord who was with them. It did not say they were with the Lord, the Lord said He was with them. And the Lord said when he was with me do so and so. And it just blessed our heart. And then he used the illustration about David. David, God told him that he should give the work stone Goliath, you know, the giant. And so David goes into King Saul and says, God is with me. I can handle Goliath. Saul said, now that's a good idea. He said, If God's with you, we can have lets you go right ahead. But he said as soon as he gave him the gold sign, he found out they had men under him under Saul's leadership, and he got all the armor in that he could to put on David. David had just gone in said the Lord's with me. But King Saul said, this may be all right, the Lord with you. But we got to do everything in our power to get you all armored up. And so David tried on this armor, and he said, it does not fit. You have not proven it. It didn't work. Therefore, he could not use the armor. We can only use the laws and the things that are given. All this other stuff that we put on is extraneous and it's just dead weight. You are going to have to learn to walk with a power of God within us and walk with an effervescence and a glow the likes of which the world hasn't seen in many centuries. And this is what we're able to do because it is Christ in you. Christ in you. In the Old Testament, God was with them. But on the day of Pentecost is better than that for Christ in you wherever you go. Christ.

Christ is that why you and God make a majority in every sixth choice. And therefore, we can leave this old gear and start out in the new year, and expect great things that come to pass. For our God is a great God. Our God is a big God, our God has wrought things in our midst that would make our heads swim tonight, if we just even begun to see even 1/10 of it. It's so far beyond what the Church teaches what the Church believes, they have never seen that at all. It is pricing, its pricing, while bless God, If Christ is in you, how much power have you got? Sure, people to want to make New Year's, that's crazy. Make a New Year's resolution, the craziest thing ever, you never make any reference. I did, and I broke it every time. All the surface, you see, we don't have to make New Year's resolutions. We've got the newest thing. And I say all the time. The Making of a New Year's resolution is just something you can toss up here. And usually because your neighbor or your your best friend, or your husband or wife wants you to change. That's all. But you have Christ did you think of that? If the Bible says, And he said in John, the work that I do, ye shall receive and greater works than I have done, ye shall do and I go to my father, which is in heaven. That's why Rachel, I know that we can start in the 1960 for the most positive people the world has ever seen. That's why I know we can leave the teaching center tonight just a girl and a fire for the Lord. And we can walk out this week with a newness in our spiritual steps, I was going to say is that so? It was a it was a real sense in our life, or real, bringing our soul and people we need not be negative. Now hearing this wonderful book of testimonials directory that God has set in here for our New Years. Fellowship is a tremendous thing.

I wanted to get in the fourth chapter of San Paolo. And in the first scene of this test the Word of God is the first word. Whenever you read the word in the Bible, it's always that complete changeover from that which has just gone before.

Every time and here now he's going to give us some tremendous truth. But I would not have you to be ignorant brethren, he would not have a cigarette he wouldn't have a stupid if he does not want us ignorant, then he wants us wise right? I would not have you ignorant brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that key sorrow not even as others which have no hope. For verse 14, if we believe if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleeping Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain on to the coming of the Lord shall not precede as the text shall not precede shall not go before them which are asleep. Very 60 fold. The Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with a trumpet God in the dead in Christ shall rise for very 70 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with names in the clouds to meet to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Verse 16, I wanted again here in 15, the coming of the Lord, the coming, remain under the coming of the Lord in verse 16, the Lord himself shall descend from heaven. And so in verse 17, it says, We shall be caught up together with them the dead in Christ, and those who are alive and remain chained, caught up together. so shall we ever be with the Lord, verse 18, Wherefore comfort one another with these words, come. It doesn't say scare the eight out of them. And that's exactly what we usually do when it comes to the matter of talking about death and resurrection. We tell people, you better get saved because you might die tomorrow. And if you're gonna die tomorrow, you'll want to get saved today to go to heaven tomorrow. Know, the word is the word of comfort. The Bible, no place teaches you get saved because you're afraid of death. It teaches that you get saved so that you can have an abundant life while you're living here. gravely when we're dead, we're dead. We need an abundance now. Right? We need to tap the resources now. We need to walk in this abundant power for abundant living now. And these are words of comfort, comfort, that greatest hope that the church is the return of Christ. And that is comfort, comfort it's a tremendous time these words are to comfort us not to scare us, not frighten us they're to be comfort to us. Now chapter five, he turns around and he says But of the times and seasons brothers of the times and seasons. Just do one fret about it and did the word hard to find out? No, he says none of your lousy Yeah, no need you will have no need that are right on the Times and Seasons you have no need right. And yet that's exactly what so many people are working in the field of prophecy always looking for the time to see. And they tell us it's now all set. You're starting to move you know, Israel gone back here and they got a nation and this is happening. These are the word says time to seize your business. Now either Godzilla or those sellers that are writing that stuff are liars, why don't you have both write the word says of the times and season the unknowing now there has to be a reason that reads that is that we need not know the times and the seasons because everything is already fulfilled in credit. And this thing that he's writing about could happen right at this moment is gonna happen next week again happen. None of our business we need not be concerned about it. Or the church is never concerned about times or see.

Everything Mrs. Schaffner for the church was fully fulfilled on the day, because when God sent the Holy Spirit, which is Christ in you the power of God, he's also just a matter now of this church being called out just a matter of the Word of God reaching that person and he getting saved and that person getting saved. And when that body is full, which only God knows. The thing happens which we just read in the fourth chest. But other times and seasons chapter five, you have no need that I write out to you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord, the day of the Lord. So promise as a thief in the night. That day of the Lord the day of the Lord is the Lord's day, not Sunday. Understand now, we'll see all this thing is terrific. you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord counted as a thief in the night. Not a thief doesn't forewarn you. He doesn't tell you when he's coming. He doesn't argue with him say when I lock up the bar, and I'm going to steal the sheep tonight. No, he doesn't do it this way. I want three three, or when they shall say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction kind of the bond as prevailed upon a woman with child and they cannot escape. Now very cold. But he brothers are not in darkness. that that day should overtake you as well bless God, that wonderful. He's coming like a thief in the night. And he's going to surprise the Blazers on a lot of people but not to not kill. For you are not are not in darkness. You're not in darkness. that that day should overtake you as a thief. Because you're born again of God's Spirit as a Christian, born again of God's spirits that day can overtake you as a thief. Because when he comes, you're ready to go. See it. That's what candles. That's why you're not dark. Merseyside says you are the children of the children of light that your children of light. You're the children of the day it says, We are not of the night. Or of that. You're the children of light. God is love. Light whose children are we? Who was my father, then God, God is my Father and His child. If you're up someone you have seeding Christ in you, the hope of glory is the seed. The seed in you, this seed in you is what has taken you out of darkness into light. And therefore when the Lord comes, it can overtake you, because you're a child of that light, by the wonderful. That's what we used to want to do and spread about.

Suppose the whole country goes past. Here, suppose everything goes below. If the Lord tarry in the midst of that, there will still be some people who will. And can if the Lord came tonight, we'd be king. I know what you see why you can go into this new year with an effervescence and the globe.

The way the world situation looked at Devil is negative. And every day your work harder and we harder to pay more taxes and all this other stuff. And it's gonna get a lot worse and is the rate we're going? Yes, we can go into that situation in 19 164 Without any fear or without any trepidation because we know what we have in Christ. We know what God has done for us. We are children of was one of our children of light that we ought to manifest. What we what we are right now, sure. If you've got the richest daddy in the community, you had drive the poorest old jalopy. Fine. No. Yep. Your drive. Your drive the best jalopy daddy obey for you with the ability as the by while our God and Father. You see how rich we are and how much we live below power that Christ is in us. Therefore, therefore, whenever you read the word therefore you ask yourself why for this is a reason now, because of all of this, which I've just read, therefore, let us not sleep as do it. Now, that doesn't mean you stay awake all night. That's not what he's talking about. It means we do not go to sleep on the breakthroughs and the realities which God has set forth in his words. Don't go to sleep on this. And just let it as if it's no good. You don't have to know the times or seasons. But you must know that you're a Child of Light. You're not a child of darkness. This day will not overtake you, no matter how negative the situation will become. It will never overtake you as a thief, because you are a child of life. Therefore, let us not please let us stay on the ball. When you go out in 1964 Go out with a conviction within your soul. You're a child of God. 32 this year 1964. Wide awake as a child of God, don't go to sleep on the things of the Lord. Most people sound asleep. They don't know what they have in Christ. Let us work. Be sober. Are they that sleep sleep in the night they that'd be drunken are drunken in the night, but let us who are us the day, the sober and let us in 1964 Put on the breastplate of lost faith. The word faith here is believing. Anything you can put on is in the category of work right? The faith of the Lord Jesus Christ on the inside is by grace not of works lest any man should boast. Therefore the putting on of the breastplate of faith is a breastplate of belief. The reason you're put on this breastplate is so that the the darts of Satan, the criticisms of people, the unbelief of the world will not be able to penetrate to your vital organs and hurt to it's a breastplate which prepares which not only will protect you that sort of better use, which protects you from the onslaught of the enemy. But who has to put this on? We do. You put on the breastplate of belief, to the end that we can believe that we are the children of light and that God is in us. We put on the breastplate of righteousness and all Satan's dark cannot penetrate that a wonderful thing put on the breastplate of this believing, put it on, put on the brace prayed up believing and something else. Love Love. This word love here is the love of God in manifestation. The census was put on the breastplate of believing and this love, the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation. And if you really love somebody, and that person has a need, what are you going to do? Tell him about why Sure. That's why 1964 We have to start moving out knowing what we have not also loving people enough to the carrot, loving people enough to carry watch the hope of salvation or a helmet, the hope of salvation. The helmet which protects us up on the upper story here. Spiritually speaking the helmet is the hope, the hope of salvation. Whenever the Bible uses the word hope it's regarding something which is not immediately available. This here hope of salvation is the hope that we have in the resurrection of Christ and His return by the hope of salvation here is his regarding his return the love of God for a helmet, the hope. Remember in my foundational class I did find faith hope and love for you. And one of the sentences if I remember correctly is usually in the essence of anything that you can appropriate immediately you can receive by faith. Hope, simply anticipate The love of God activates both faith and hope. Both nine and for God, God has not appointed us to rap. God has not appointed us to wrap that up, appointed us to obtain salvation. And this is the same context, the return of Christ obtained salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, verse 10, that whether we are awake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore, verse 11, wherefore because of all of this, comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as Oh, so you do that a wonderful first. And we beseech you, brethren, the knows them labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and had money shoe, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work sake, and be at peace among yourselves. Now we exhort your brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort, the feeble minded, to parse the weak, be patient toward all a man. See that no one renders evil for evil on Danny man in 1964. faithfully, he's a call with you. Who also will walk? Well, did he call you? If he called you his criteria? Is he faithful to carry it out? Very definitely. Not a wonderful. He's faithful. I am the one that has been unfaithful. I'm the one that has shortcomings but not God. God is faith. And what God has promised he is able, yes, but not only able, he's also lot willing, willing to perform, willing to perform. And here he tells us where to exhort the brethren. We are to warn them. It tells us that we're not to render evil for evil.

Rejoice, give thanks, points, not the spirit, despise not prophesying, Prove all things, hold fast to that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil, the appearance of evil is if you do not do these things, then you're evil. That's the appearance that the word says in Second context. Now you take the verse out of context, and I am telling you, you can just wrack and ruin anybody. Because to abstain from the appearance of the or who's going to determine what it is to abstain from what appearance of evil, because that was not a pure evil to they fasteners will not appear evil to the Sutton because if you were raised in a certain territory in a certain section of the country, things for you would be taboo, that would not necessarily be taboo for him right here. But they take this very, and they use that, to beat people down with to make them track where they think they like for them, they're up. And I tell you, it's not a year lousy business where they want. The Bible says that every man stands on his own two feet before God is accountable to God. And you can expect the world to walk like you're going along. And I can't expect you to walk by like I'm gonna walk because you got to walk in your shoes, in your own shoes, even if you lost your boots. Right? That's right. So when they want to talk about abstaining from the appearance of evil, is usually used in a sense what they think is evil, they don't want you to do they want you to walk like they want

good grades, then you just have another denominator. And even they can't even they can't get along you know, what's the most evil thing is to the appearance of evil when we do not subtle the Word of God.

When we're out there clenching the spirits, you know, when we're denying the great accuracy of prophecy, and that also includes the operations of speaking in tongues, interpretation, prophecy, and the rest of them back to the appearance of evil. When we render evil for evil, that's the appearance of it. That's what the word says. That's why I knew I had a message for you because I knows what God has in here. I know the greatness of the hour. I know the power that's in the Word. He says he exhorts us He exhorts to exhort means to worship exhorts us to live this way. And to refrain from all appearance of evil would be not to live. This does not give you a license to go out here live like the devil. I'm not saying that because you got other scriptures tells you better not do that. But this particular that they've taken out of context for long needs to be put back accurately in the Word was God said it. And you people are here tonight, leave it set, and teach it to others. Because this is where it fits. And you know, gunwale when it comes to the appearance, we're never going to agree since knowledge wise on those matters. They cause what one person will allow the other person could not allow it says so in the book. The word and the Bible says we're not to judge one another in meat or drink or respect even a holy day.

Faithful is either called you who also will do it faithfully. And you also will do it. Therefore what God has promised? He's not only willing but he's able to carry out for you. Sure, he'll supply all of my needs according to His love. In thirst, John, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper in be securing a dog in it. And be in love. Good I guess I wake above all things at Thomas puffed, and be in health, even as thy soul promised. Well, what is the will of God? Just that is, oh, there are just these promises through the scriptures that many of you know dozens. Well, the word says faithfully as he called you, who also will do what he promised he is able to follow. Commands unbelief, make the promises of God and non effect no only to the unbeliever. But for those who can believe he will never fell short on food. That's why class, the greatest thing the world has ever seen is right here. And this is what we know the least about. People think they know the right of God, you can give them a first grade exam, and they approve it every time. Why they don't even know how many recruits by week. They don't even know what day. They don't know what they got up accurately, you know that. Therefore, you see, we've got to come back to the Word of all of God's work. The greatest of his work is his words. And that's what I like to see happen in 1964, beyond anything has happened in 63. And we've moved tremendously with the moving award. But I like to see this word moved out. I like to see you people get water to other people in your home and see the more I like for you to get the word. I don't care how you do it. And I don't care if you do it in my faction. If you were my tire my stress, I don't care. I just want to issue. The point is I want the minister the word. Remember what it says? What is the 138 sama read it to you one night of all of God's worth? 38 Verse two, is that what it is? There? Look it up again might refresh your memory? Is that what it is? Right, right, right, right, right. 138 Psalm, verse two I will worship toward thy holy temple and praise thy name for thy loving kindness, and for Thy truth. For thou, thou has magnified thy word above thy neighbor, one magnified is worried about being safe. That means that God has put his name underneath his name is a foundation on which the Lord is that under regnant with his name, Sam that his car he signed the check with his name is worried he has undergirded with his name. That's why I have all of God's work. We talk about the stars in our courses and the universe's and the planets and all that wonderful, but nothing of all of God's work. Man is a wonderful work of God that created the farming the making a man of tremendous things, but not even that of all God's work. That our greatest stuff is worth it. That's why we believe the Word of God is the will of God and that it means what he says and says what it means. In here tonight, many of you have studied the word for hours on the principles of the foundation of class and banks, like you know more the Word of God than that it has known for centuries to teach us at least one, then teach it to then teach it to three teachers teach.

But you're, you're going to have to get the people in their home, you're going to have to either bring them into yours, you'll go over desire. And you cannot teach anybody unless you can get their attention. You cannot teach anyone unless they are listed. Right? And I have to get the word out. That's why when people walk over, suppose they gripe I suppose they say you're religious enough?

How can the word of the season if it cannot see Jesus in me, my standing up here telling you to put the word of God up here. And I put it up there. It's about a water balloon. I have to put the word up here. And maybe that's why I keep pounding at you the word all the time. Because to me, the greatest thing that I've ever seen is the word. Nothing before you know about a lot of other stuff, I don't get much disturbed. Lot of things that ordinarily people get disturbed about, you know, don't bother me. But when they begin hacking the learning to pieces, and they don't know anything about what disturbs me knowing because I believe that this is the greatest thing the world has ever received. And I believe that God has called us for a time and for an hour. And I think it's the greatest power of the history of our world right now. For us to start really pushing the accuracy of God for you young defense. So you want to hear for the youth evangelist because, well I like you should. There are you young people just had this advance. Then you've just gone through what I've taught you tonight, you know that you've got to take this ministry out to young people. Some young people are not going to live. Another young person is going to live. And our responsibility is not who listens. Our responsibility is to teach with nobody. Because we're not rewarded for how many we teach. We're rewarded for our faithful and the accuracy with which we handle the Word of God. And God has set his name underneath his words. Why do you promise he will perform? He is able, he is willing. And all these tremendous promises belong to you because you belong to Him. He is your father. He is your father. You are His child, and you're just as rich as above. Remember what Romans eight says? Romans eight says that we are joint heirs with Christ NOTICE joint areas. If there's $1,000,000.02 Brothers Dad, dad, and their joint their one brother will have half a million the other brother half a half. Joining me sharing share alike. It says in Romans 817 that we are joint heirs with Christ. It says in the Gospel of John and we call it an earlier tonight, the work that I do what y'all do Oh, and greater work that I have done. No longer that people think you're nuts when you say you're gone out here and do greater works than Jesus did. When you can believe it and go out and do it. No one else has always called believers. They've always looked with 1000 skepticism on men who read women really have to read because the world wants to keep you floating. In a part of lethargy, kind of situation where you're just measurably content with your knowing nothing.

Just sit and float along. Like the status quo you're just well when they go to church, you go and they pray you pray when they say Amen, you save some time, don't say amen. When they say amen. And sometimes when they sit down, stand up and be counted for something. That's a, that's a TV. Well, this is what I'd like to see happen among all of our people. I like to see Jeff, walk as a group of like minds and remember what the Word teaches on the great accuracy of the word with the knowledge of God's word to have and move someone and show them the greatness of God's word. I do not believe that anybody is really happy until they get a knowledge of God's word so they can hate it and understand it and know that they know that they know that they know that they know that they know that they know them. You've got and I think this is why the word of God is the greatest thing that we can take with him in 1964 I'm not saying this will keep us as individuals it will keep us as family. It will keep us in the fellowship.
