2 Thessalonians 2:2

2 Thessalonians 2:2 (KJV)

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

2 Thessalonians 2:2 (Literal)

2 Not to be easily tossed around in your mind, or to be alarmed, not by a [devil] spirit, or by speech, or by an epistle, as if it came from us, saying the day of the lord is present.

CONTEXT- Admonition.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12

1 Now we implore you, brothers, with respect to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him, 2 Not to be easily tossed around in your mind, or to be alarmed, not by a [devil] spirit, or by speech, or by an epistle, as if it came from us, saying the day of the lord is present. 3 Let no one seduce you in any way. That day cannot come unless the departure [of the saints] has occurred first and the man of lawlessness, the son of destruction, has been revealed. 4 He is the antagonist who asserts himself as more powerful than anything called a god or religiously honored, to the end that he sets up his throne in the temple of God [Jehovah] presenting himself as God [Almighty]. 5 Surely you remember that I talked with you while I was still with you about these things. 6 Now you know that there is
something which restrains these things, that he might be revealed in his proper time. 7 For already the mystery of lawlessness is at work. However, the present restraining power [Christ in you] which you are experiencing will continue [to restrain him] only until it [the restraining power] is taken out of the way. 8 Then the lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord Jesus will blast out of existence with the breath of his mouth and will wipe out with the blinding brilliance of his coming. 9 The coming [of the lawless one] is in accordance with Satan’s energizing with all power, signs and counterfeit wonders, 10 And with all deceit of unrighteousness to those who are destined for destruction, because they do not open their hearts to the love of the truth in order to be saved. 11 For this reason God allows
them to be sent an energizing of error, so that they believe the lie [other gods, false hope, unnatural sex], 12 To the end that all who like to
sin and who do not believe the truth shall be condemned.
