Victor Paul Wierwille was a Bible scholar and teacher for over four decades.

By means of Dr. Wierwille's dynamic teaching of the accuracy and integrity of God's Word, foundational class and advanced class graduates of Power for Abundant Living have learned that the one great requirement for every student of the Bible is to rightly divide the Word of Truth. Thus, his presentation of the Word of God was designed for students who desire the in-depth-accuracy of God’s Word.

In his many years of research, Dr. Wierwille studied with such men as Karl Barth, E. Stanley Jones, Glenn Clark, Bishop K.C. Pillai, and George M. Lamsa. His formal training included Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Theology degrees from Mission House (Lakeland) College and Seminary. He studied at the University of Chicago and at Princeton Theological Seminary from which he received a Master of Theology degree in Practical Theology. Later he completed his work for the Doctor of Theology degree.

SUMMARY KEYWORDS: Jesus, host, crucified, constrained, prophets, beheld, Jerusalem

I'm all excited about the word tonight, because I shared some of these things with my family this morning in the 1030 family meeting. But this 24th chapter of Luke at this time of the year, after the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, before the day of the ascension, and so forth, is a real tremendous in depth chapter. And I'd like to share the greatness of the knowledge I have of this word. There's much more to learn than perhaps I know, or will be able to share tonight, but it's a tremendous chapter. And let's just take a look at chapter 24 of Luke first knob on the first of the week. This is what we refer to as Easter Sunday, very early in the morning. They came under the sepal curve, this is the woman bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others were with them. And they found that stone rolled away from the CEP occur. And they entered in and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass as they were much perplexed. There about behold, two men stood by them in Sharm shining garments. And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek is a living among the watts. This is not a tremendous thing. Why take the living among the dead? Had God not raised him he still would have been was dead. Then why in the world does spiritualism today in our Seon says, seek the living among the Lord. That's right, you're still damned. And had God not raised Jesus Christ, they still would have been dead. Right? At this is the message, a tremendous message on that Easter Sunday morning when these women came early, and they said, Well, why do you think the living among the dead, he was supposed to be dead and they knew it. But instead of he being dead, God had done one thing what? And until God raised his people there was a man. That's what's the word. He is not here. Very sick. But he's risen. Doesn't say when he arose, we know that He rose long time before this. Remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee saying, that's not a man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified. And the third day there what rise again, Easter Sunday is the fourth day, he arose on what we know, as our Saturday before sunset on that Saturday, which is the third day and they the women remembered his words, and returned from the SEPA skirt and told all these things onto the 1111 apostles, and to all the reps that were gathered with them. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary, the mother of Jane's and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. And their words, seem to them as what? I don't tail and they want to believe them. The Idle tail, it was just it just talked, they said, You're just yakking. You're just blowing. It just seemed as idle tails to them. That this Jesus had been resurrected, and they did not believe what these women reported. Then verse 12, says, Peter arose Peter, he ran under the sepal skirt, and stooping down he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering and himself at that which was come to pass. There are five words in that verse you ought to notice. First of all, Peter erode. Secondly, ran. Thirdly, he stooped down. Fourthly, or something he beheld, he saw it. Now the fifth place, he departed into the sixth place, he just kept on wondering, he never got to the believing stage. I don't want to particularly teach this but some of you people that go out teaching, boy, you could do a real take off on that verse 12, and really melt people's hearts with the greatness of it. Because you'd start teaching the word sometime to people and it will arouse them it'll start getting them up.

04:55

And they'll take it just like they're, they're running toward the word they get real hot on and they will be hold the word, then they all depart from it. And all they'll do is just wonder about it. They never get to the place that they really believe it in practice that in their life. It's in the believing that we equal receiving. And without believing there is no receiving. You can take a look at the word you can run after the word, you can behold the greatness of that. But until you believe it, all you'll do is depart one of the penalty. Now wanted to get basically down to verse 30. Remember, now this is what we refer to as Easter Sunday. And on that day, they hold two of them, not the apostles, because they were behind closed doors for fear of the Jews, but two others went in that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. Now I believe a furlong is something like 202 English yards. And as these two are going along, they talk together of all these things which had happened in Jerusalem, the past few days. And it came to pass that while they communed while they talk things over, and we're reasoning together, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holding that they should not know should not recognize you. They did not recognize who this resurrected person was. And the reason that they did not recognize this, because this Jesus had a new body, a resurrected body, and about everything that can be known about the resurrected body, we're going to read tonight as we go along. There is very little that is known. Because we have never had the opportunity of taking it into the laboratory at Harvard, or Yale, or Princeton, or Columbus, Ohio State University. So the only knowledge that is available to us is the knowledge that the words and he Jesus said under them, what manner of communications are these that you have one to another as you walk, and are the words and are sad are deleted in some of the oldest manuscripts? I believe you can leave them in because it doesn't mean sad, to the end where, you know, they were completely depressed. But they were sad because they were had been anticipating a positive response. And as far as their senses were concerned, they saw nothing but negative because Jesus had been crucified. The word communications is the plural usage of the word logon word. What manner of words are these, that you have one with another? Very big team. And the one of them whose name was platelets? And answering said unto him, hardstyle only a strange read, Bruce, Will. You talk about satire, irony in the word, this is an interesting thing to Jesus. Are you only a stranger in Jerusalem, remember all your life? You decide with it? It's really interesting, and has not known the things which have come to pass there in the day. And he said unto them, What thing and they said unto him concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet, mighty in deed and word, before God and all the people. Again, the word word, here's the word Logan, verse 20, and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have what crucified him again, the Word says that it was the Jewish priests and the rulers, the dude who crucified him, no matter what the last console decided in Rome, this is what the Word says. And I am not responsible that Jesus Christ was crucified. Let's keep the record straight. No more. So am I responsible for the failures that our government made or the people made 2030 years ago? can hold me responsible and try to collect for me because my daddy's or granddaddy didn't treat your relative, right.

09:52

All a bunch of baloney. The chief priests and rulers were the ones who delivered Jesus and condemned Him to death, and crucified in verse 21. But we trust that it had been he, which should have redeemed Israel. That's why they were sad. They had hope. They had trusted that this was the Messiah, who would establish the kingdom of Israel again, in all of it. And beside all this, the day is the third day since these things were done. This is not the third day, this is the third day, hence, the crucifix or the yes, the crucifixion, if it's the third day, and this day must be the fourth day, which this first has been difficult for many people. But it isn't really a literal translation would be a verse 21. But then with all these things, today, goes away. Three days, when these things came to pass, the reason I translated it goes away is because the word is a gale AG, he is that means that those three days have passed. That is the fourth day. The reason this is important, otherwise the rest of the scriptures on a number of different places will run in conflict with. In other words, besides all this today is the three days since three days ago, it happened. So today is the fourth day that these things were done. Verse 23, day uncertain women out of our company made us astonished which were early at the subwoofers these fellows must have been in on the report that came back by these women. And when they found not his body, they came saying that they had seen a big enough Angel also, word also has to go after the vision of angels for your Bible V. Which said that he was alive by 24. And certain a bandwidth were with us when to the suffering founded even so as the women had said, but him they saw him. Then he said unto them, all falls in flow of hearts to believe all that the prophets have. This is what he said to those to me the full and flow apart. Now this word pool it's interesting because there are three basic different words you that you might translate ooh, this word, I think I'll give you the Greek word for it if you're making notes, if you check it out in your own concordances and look them up. But it's really interesting. I was telling Walter before the service tonight, we need to do an in depth piece of work on this use case that I'm going to be sharing here with you. I know I know a post is spelled a and oto s which is this word here in this verse 20 bucks. And this word means without proper reflection, without proper thinking through without proper application. What is the other word and other words is the word upload a P, R O N. And this is a pool. We haven't got a mind to think with it is without mind. And the third word is the word. So a s o p h o n this is one who is a fool he has thought it through. But he doesn't apply it it's without wisdom, a fool without wisdom. The first is a fall without proper reflection. The second is a fool without a mind. And the third one is a fool without wisdom. These are three different use, they just have this word in the Word. Then Jesus said unto these two men, oh you fools. You have not not put proper reflection upon this. And slow of heart to believe all that the prophet has opened. Ought not Christ, the Messiah who has suffered the thing and to enter into his glory.

14:54

The glory here is not the glory of the return of Right, which is spoken up in the book of Revelation. When it comes to King of Kings and Lord of lords, he's all his books. This is the glory that talks about are brought up in John 20. Look at John point. John 20 is a little difficult scripture to a degree I guess. You can start reading with verse 16. We're still on resurrection. On Sunday, the Sunday 16th. Jesus said unto her, Mary, she turned herself and set onto him with a bow tie, which is to say, Master, Jesus said unto her, Touch me not, for I have not yet ascended to my Father. This is the bow we are very 26. Ought not price of subsidiaries and to enter into his glory. You see, at one place in the gospels, he he is told, he says, Don't touch me. At another time, he says, here my hand What's your hands into the print of the nails? So he was allowed to talk to you. Now you have an apparent discrepancy. If you have an apparent discrepancy in the word, the first place you look in your mind, you understand what you're doing, do deliberate practice step and see it has to be in translate. Well, this is because we haven't understood it, it's not in translate. When a person had been defiled, like it would step in so forth. Then it was just like touching a leper. Or if you had had leprosy. Remember the 10 fellows that had leprosy came to Jesus. And He healed them. And he sent them right back to the shows themselves. The pre at the show themselves to the free. Wait, god Re Jesus Christ from the day. The reason that he said that Mary Do not text me yet Rob not offended or whatever it was in the gallery is because he had not yet gone back and presented himself in the temple. The reason he had to do this is because we had to fulfill the law. And the law requires the presentation of one who has been involved in death, die even, you know, if I were handling someone who was dead than I would have to go through the cleansing program and go to the temple and present myself. He had not yet ascended doesn't mean 40 days after the resurrection, he knew that he had not ascended from the place he was and gone to the temple and sold himself there in early.

18:17

20s then he did something driven, would blow your mind. Right? 27. And beginning at Moses, and all the prophets, Moses, he's talking about the Old Testament, as we refer to the painter to the Five Books of Moses, and all the prophets, he expounded on to them in all the scriptures that things concerning what Amen. Oh, two fellows on Earth to me. They had quite a teacher that's fabulous. When you read concordances today, or you read Bibles, and get they put them all together, like following your blows that all the way through on what he talks about his promises in the Old Testament are coming in so it flows in time. At Jesus Christ, every sister that volunteering these concordance, and most of them present, telling us how much there is in the Old Testament about Jesus Christ specifically. He could have never finished expounding this to them in the time that he has. It has taken him two days. Look, it doesn't say that he just ordered the Scripture today. Look what he says people, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures, that thing concerning himself. And the word expound is not the word. I get all my Walbert. It's a word. That means To interpret spilling oil, they really had to take in all the Old Testament scriptures of the Prophet, the book of Moses, or the last five books of Moses, and all the prophets, he expounded to them and all boats concerning himself.

20:22

What is that? Oh, that was I wish you'd had that on tape. We just wouldn't had any fun because these fellows had to quit all their arguments.

20:42

Now you can just pick out a scripture and say, Well, there's one word in here. And that one word, same word that use regarding Jesus, therefore, that reference the Old Testament must refer a jig. So we just go in circles, balloons. Well, they threw nine under the belly. I do want to figure out time you got the Furlong. You can work it out yourself. It cannot have been over eight miles. That's the most wraps it I don't know how fast you can walk is the what I'm sure they started just casually walked along, you'll figure it out. And in that period of time, expounded into them in all the scriptures, thanks for the gift. I just can't take it any bigger. That's all I know about it. But that's just the true nine the villains whether they went that he may have engaged us, he made it though he was going to keep on going. But they constrained him, saying, abide with us for its toward evening. And the day as far as family and he went into carry with them. The word constrained is the Eastern custom and Orientalism, which is uniquely significant in this verse. These two men constrained Jesus to come in with them to have a meal to stay with them to lodge with, with them overnight to give him hospitality. If I would constrain you to come with me for dinner, it's not that I'd say to you, Well, Mrs. We're well, and I would like to have you for dinner on Sunday, maybe whatever it is. And so that's not constraining, that's just telling to constrain someone is to plead with them. To give them a reason why. And it's an Orientalism. And you must ever, you must refuse me twice before you accept my invitation. That's the word chemistry. You know, today, you say so much. Let's, let's go have a sandwich. I'm ready. Let's go. You know, what the word can strain? means that they invited him three times. They said something to him like, look, you've just had a big day on Sure. And you must be very tired and very hungry. Won't you just stop in with us to have a bite to eat and stay with us? And he would say, Well, I've had a sort of a busy day, but I'm really not tired yet. And I'm really not hungry, then I would say, but you really do need something to eat pretty soon. And you just can't wait too long anymore. The day is passing by, won't you just please come in and have something to eat with us? Then you would say well, I'm sorry. But really, I'm not too tired yet. And I just like to keep on going a little further. And really, I'm not hungry. Then I say to you, well, but sooner or later, you're going to get hungry. So you might as well satisfy that opportunity right now. And it'll give you a chance to rest. And then you say to me Well, since you aren't so kind, I'll accept your invitation you had planned on accepting it from the very beginning. That's, that's Eastern culture. That's Biblical culture. That is what's the word constrain me every year read that the word of God it always means that very thing which I've just taught. They constrained him, saying, abide with us for its toward evening, the day as far as faint. And then comes the truth of what finally happened. He went in to tarry with him. Now we have something here that is again, real dynamic. And it came to pass as he sat at least with them, he took one. That's not right. Because who did the inviting the two men on the road to a man, they would be his host. He would be a walk in the home, a guest but it turns right around. He was invited, he who was invited to be the guest becomes the host. It was he who thought a meet with them. He took bread, and blessed it and break it and gave it to them and their eyes were open, and they knew him.

25:48

It's not in the breaking of bread that they knew. It is in the truth that they were the ones who had invited him to be their guest. And the guest turns out to be the host. And the host, sat down with them and wrote the read only does the host and break bread with his people if he has on a very intimate relationship with otherwise in the Bible and eastern culture. The host always stands next to the man of honor. If the host was seated at this place at the table, then, I mean, the man of honor was seated here, then the host would stay next. And the server would simply keep their eyes on the host. If I want something I wait to come, I say get more bread, you get more bread, I give it to this man Obama. Or I say want more soup, potatoes, hamburgers, whatever served pickles. I I get them from the servants. And being the host. I give it to this man. I'm not on such amiable situation or person where you relate so uniquely, that we are so well acquainted that I sit with you the only the host of the fits with his guests when they are most intimate. This, these two men on the road to Emmaus that they were a man who had no Jesus, throughout his ministry, they were intimate with Him. He was intimate with them long before this occasion. And on this wonderful occasion, they invited him as their guests. But instead of he being the guest, he was the host. That's why they knew him because he would not have dared otherwise. To break the brain. Isn't that tremendous? Boy, you talk about the hidden things of the word and the greatness of that word. I can spend if you have concern about in depth knowledge of the word and the greatness of it. He started meet with them. He took bread, blessed it, break it, gave it to them. And now it's not communion Mrs. Sucker. And their eyes were open. Their eyes were open because it was he who sat and took the bat. That's how he opened our eyes. That's how they knew he was the host. And then he bangs out of their sight. That's quite a body. That's quite a quite a resurrected body. Verse 32. And they said one to another did not our heart burn within us? While he talked with us by the way, he the way it was back there already? Because he is really beautiful. Did not our heart burn with us while we were walking along and he talks to us opening this scriptures from all Moses the prophets. And while he opened up all of these Scriptures, the word opened is the same word as expounded up there it's word interpreted to us. Did not our hearts burn within us? Is there anything that has ever really burned our hearts like the accuracy of God's word? What is the thing that has really turned us on? It's been the accurate knowledge of God's word has been the teaching of that word. That great in depth wonderfulness. So that word that has just burned our hearts. It did it still doesn't say true because it's always the words. If you can just get the word to people. You can turn them on. Believe it Verse 33 they rose up the same hour and just leisurely wandered back to Jerusalem. I'll bet they did. I bet they hotfooted if they'd have had a motorcycle later most likely jumped on her turn early. They returned to Jerusalem and the first place they went was right where the 11 word and the word gathered. Is the word crowded. I don't want it really saying it says huddled together.

30:36

Why? Because they were behind closed doors for fear of up and two fellas, boy, they come flying up the stairway. They knock at the door, and boy, they knock at the door all the way down the corner someplace. That's what separates huddled together, gathered together. As they said in verse 34, the Lord's written in de Northridge named got up for Wake Up was the excitement in those words must have been fantastic. The Lord is risen indeed, he has appeared to Simon and they told what things were done in the way and how he was no not them in the breaking of bread. The food they had together as he sat down with them and as they got ready, right.
